What about the mirror? I replaced mine with one from Bob's that only had Compass, temp, and auto dim.

I didn't know you were 2wd, I guess the Park Service doesn't either since you have an ORV pass

A very good reason! I wasn't so much meaning why bother upgrading trucks, but rather, why bother changing box size of its working for you :)

I cant speak to the driving diff between the SB and the LB, but as a new LB owner, I can say that its nice to be able to mount my bikes into the bed without needing to take off any wheels or anything. I found these cool bike mounts that attach to the bed rail and then clamp the bike in place standing upright. The other cool thing, if you are tall at least, is you can sleep in the bed. Im 6'1" and can fit if needed.

Addition: parking it isnt hard at all. My other car is a 2 door 335 which is very small and low in comparison. I use the assistance of the back up camera when needed and can reverse park it pretty easily now.

I agree. People will say otherwise, but unless you are sleeping back there, I don't think the extra foot is all that critical. At least I wouldnt buy a new truck over it. I have a different perspective than others on here though, coming from a 4Runner any length bed is great when it comes to hauling.

Ive only driven big trucks so won't comment on driveability because I'm biased.

But I would never own a truck with a short bed. So I think its a no brainer you should trade.

I would have to disagree. I'm sure if you're just hauling stuff now and then, no big deal, but if you use the bed a lot, that extra foot is a huge difference. Even disregarding sleeping in it, You can't even fit a bicycle in a short bed with out taking the front wheel off. I haul lots of wood, steel, firewood, bikes, camping stuff, etc in the bed, and I would be very limited without the extra space. Especially if I have my spare tire against the front wall of the bed, that's a foot gone right there.

I did grow up with nothing smaller than an f350 though, so that's where my bias could come from. But we used it hard every day

I have never driven a DCSB Tacoma, but my previous 2 trucks were crew cabs with a 5' bed. A Colorado and a Ridgeline.
When buying the Taco I was only willing to get a 6' bed and wanted a crew cab so I never tested any DCSB to see how they drove....

I got very tired of my other trucks short beds. Lots of little things that had to be angled to close the tailgate like skis, fishing poles bikes and wood. I can carry my motorcycle and mower much easier in the bigger bed.
I don't struggle driving or parking at all. Just know the size of your vehicle and your good.

Still have my Thule hitch rack from the 4Runner for the bikes and won't ever have a spare mounted in the bed, so I agree to disagree. I don't doubt the benefit of having the extra foot. I personally don't need it, and I personally wouldnt ever trade my truck in to gain that extra foot. If I actually had a reason to fill up the bed to the point where I found the short bed a limiting factor, I'd be shopping for a full size truck, not a long bed taco. If two trucks were identical, same price, same config except long vs short, then yea, I'd take the long bed. I just would never find the short bed so limiting that I would sell it, and then buy the same truck with a long bed.

Exactly doesn't matter if you drive a LB or a SB. Just know the size

Its suprisingly capable if your careful. Their only requirement is 2wd vehicles must have 7.5" of tread width.

I didn't have a 2nd gen DCSB but coming from a 1st gen access cab (about half a foot shorter than 2nd gen DCSB) maneuvering in a tight parking lot takes a bit more planning. I find myself backing into parking spots most of the time now. I got the DCLB since I like having the extra foot for camping gear, dump runs, and getting lumber from the hardware store.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I will never own another short bed.

I'm not trading for the bed size. What i want is a front drive shaft. ;) The truck I found just happens to have a long bed.

Oh, then just get it...4wd comes in handy ....and a larger bed does too. Plus then you are certified to drive a school bus also. It a win, win, win. :)
