    Hey guys,
Currently deciding between a DCLB and DCSB. I was wondering if you have a long bed how the driving characteristics are different between the two. I imagine the short bed is a bit more flickable. Will there be a noticable different in power too? Not sure what the weight difference is. Thanks!

drove both, Own a LB. handeling isn't that different.. I'd much rather have the bed space. DCLBFTW!

Long bed is merely a tiny bit more challenging to park, but the camera and tech package have all but negated that. Flip side is that I take speed bumps at full speed and pop right over them with no issues. Bed space is a huge benefit. The ride is fine - it's a truck, and just a little softer than the DCSB.

It is virtually the same length as an F-150, so there are really no issues handling it in traffic. It doesn't U-turn on a dime, but for Pete's sake it's a truck. If I wanted to turn tightly I'd drive my wife's Prius, and I'd rather not.

I have owned both. An 05 dcsb a 12 dclb and now a dclb 16. The parking is a little more difficult on the dclb and also doing a u turn requires more space. I personally feel the extra bed length makes it worth having the dclb. If you're not worried about hauling anything in the bed the short bed is a great truck.

I had 3 long beds, love having a full bed. I noticed in the rain or on slippery ground. The long bed has less weight on rear tires and less traction. So I easily spin my tires sometimes.

My DCSB has the cab right by the rear wheels and I noticed it has better traction than the longbed.

A 2wd DCLB is difficult to park in tight areas. The 4x4 turns sharper for easier navigating.

I think longbed is only 60 lbs heavier than shortbed.

A shortbed can do 90% of what longbed can do, it's weakness is long items like a 16ft 2x4 or baseboards, or a tall ladder.

For city driving and offroad, I prefer my 2016 DCSB. For a work truck then longbed for sure.

It all depends on what you use your truck for and where you drive it. I got the dcsb and I wished I got the long bed from the day I got it, simply for the space and to carry my atv in the bed. However just recently I started commuting with it into NYC and don't have a regret in the world. There is a very tight parking lot at my job and I find getting the dcsb is labor some. Couldn't imagine anything bigger.

Only a few more inches in space not worth the extra ass pain for parking and crappy turning radius. Plus the DCSB better for offroad

But my long bed says "OFF ROAD" right on the back!
    Also..turning radius argument: DCSB: 40.6" DCLB: 44.1" 3.5" difference...

    It's closer to 80%. 6.2' versus 5'.

As for driveability I think that both the SB and LB feel kind of heavy simply because of the powertrain combination. The truck really doesn't want to get up and go till you put your foot in it, then it really does. The 60 lb difference between the two is not noticeable, I've driven them both. I personally think the LB rides better, feels more floaty in a good way. For as long as the truck is it is surprisingly easy to maneuver and park. To me it feels shorter than it is, maybe its just the back up camera.

I guess it just depends on how much you need the bed and what you will use the truck for. I have a DBL Cab Long bed OR. I will say this, last weekend we went for a hike and had the dog, his bed and a few backpacks/cooler in the back. While a short bed would have worked, it was sure nice to have the extra room. When I was contemplating between the SB and LB I kept picturing a rick of fire wood against the cab and then the rest filled with camping gear and the dog, for me the SB wouldn't have been enough room. However if you are heavy into offroading or do a lot of city driving and don't need all the bed space the SB is the way to go.

Well that explains it. I am getting a long bed OR. I work in the city but my job is letting us work from home. Will not be doing much off roading just camping and fishing. I do a lot of contruction work so the bed space is needed.

Few inches? It's a foot longer, longer wheelbase too. If you have skills, parking is no big deal, the extra bed room is great, better for towing, and it looks mo betta too

Have owned both short and long beds and always wished I had more space when I owned the SB....

Have never thought I had too much space when owning the LB.

Does your truck need to fit in a garage?

I have the long bed. It's almost 19 feet long. I park mine on the street and I can't always take spots that are big enough for a car, but there is a mile of empty street on the other side of the corner so it doesn't matter. If I'm in a small parking lot, I always back into small spots. I have used compact spots before and it's not that bad.

I can also close the tail gate when we take my wife's quad out. We have a small trailer for when we want to take the bike and quad. The bike won't fit beside the quad in the back of the truck without smashing the top of the bed sides.

I'm glad I got the long bed. They are harder to find in all combinations, though

I used to hit a lot of curbs with my DCLB, but got used to it after a while. Now have an access cab, still long bed. not many curbs hit any more. (just hit one yesterday though)
