DDM tuning ballast

It's cool I'm just trying to help the lad. A little advice from someone who has been in his shoes, and was led in the right direction. I know money is tight for everyone these days....but why would you settle for something when you could have better, with a little saving up.

 

I appreciate all the feedback. What made you pick the kit you got over the h1?

 

Not really sure, just personal preference. Some may say the H1 has more color and this and that but really i don't give a s*$t about color. I really liked the pattern of the high-beam on the D2S compared to the H1. I do a lot of driving early in the am (leave for work at 3:30) and i wanted light in front of me. Another good place to research is HIDplanet. There are threads on there that will show you all diff. beam patterns from numerous projectors, and comparisons of all, side by side. It's a choice man, whatever you want. Just be sure you research, don't jump in blind. I spent hours on the computer looking this s&$t up before i made up my mind.

I'm not really worried about low beams I just want a good high beam. I live in rural Alabama and never meet many people on the road

 

OK I see where you are going. You want light right?? You want light everywhere right?? (again i'm not trying to sell)
A projector set-up will throw the light output evenly, wider and farther than the reflector. If you want more bang for the buck, go with projectors. Again, it's a personal preference to which one you choose, but really, as long as you go with a reputable source/brand it's hand over fist better than stock.

 

Alright man thanks for all this info. Definately have me looking into this option. Did you retro your fogs? And I've look and can't seem to find a writeup about instalation, how can I see how the instalation process goes?

 

The next thing is the heat or "color" bulb you choose. HID's are based on a Kelvin scale, which is a heat scale. Lower heat, like 3000K is a yellowish/green light output (i.e. fog lights). 4300K is a white/yellowish light. 5000K is like a pure white. 6000K starts getting bluish, and anything above that is just for looks, getting into purples and shit......whatever. Google "Kelvin light scale" and you will see what i mean. I have 5000K, and holy shit, i love my lights.

I've researched hids for hours Ive narrowed it down to 6k or 8k. I will go check out your lights. You run the lights that come in the retro kit right?

 

If you want to see shit in front of, and all around you, to the best ability of the projector, I would stay between 4300K and 5K. that would be your best bet. 6k starts to get blue and above that blue/purple.

 

Is retro fogs really worth the trouble? Is there a writeup about retro headlights?

Sort of.......you will have to mod your headlight assembly a little. start looking at the BHLM mod for the separation procedure, then start looking for retro tips.

 

Ok I've looked at the bhlm and I think I can handle that. I'm leaning toward this option but I will continue to research up on it
