So I decided to start my de-badge process this evening with the v6 emblem. Heat gun on low, fishing line and goo gone. The badge and adhesive came off easily, but I'm left with this shadow where the emblem was. I'm not sure if its visible in the sunlight or not, but it is when using a flashlight. Before I remove the other badges and TRD decals, what can I use to remove this residue? 20190622_204212.jpg

I used goo gone to get the adhesive off. This feels slick like the paint.

You’ll need something with pumice and more likely a paint correction to remove ghosting.

Are there any products I can get at a local auto parts store or the like? I wanted to do a full debadge but I'm afraid they've been on there too long and will all have this "shadow"

If all the residue is gone, but you still have "ghosting," try a clay bar and elbow grease.

Have you tried polishing it out? I removed the factory bedside decals after 3 years and there wasn’t any noticeable “ghosting”. Don’t know if emblems are different...

I'd try Meguiars ScratchX with a microfiber applicator pad. Available locally. I think it'll take care of your problem.

I just went and tried some wd40 and that seems to have helped a little. I'll check it again in the morning.

I have some scratch x 2.0 but I wasn't sure if that would help the "ghosting" affect or not

The wd40 is probably filling the paint, much like an oily polish or wax, masking the ghosting.

An abrasive like ScratchX should clean that up. I'd wipe it down with a 20% isopropyl alcohol solution to get the wd40 off so you're looking at a clean surface. And then try the scratchX.

Sorry been busy with some other projects today, but yes it did. I used the scratch x for all the badges and it's like they were never there 3 years later. Thanks for the advice!

    Not enough to list
Def dont keep using the Key to get it off. Yikes. I've used a heat gun and thumb the adhesive away. Goo Gone, allowing it to sit a few mins, then wax.

:anonymous: note to self: wash the area you're about to rub like a madman first. Good news the scratch x cleared that up too:thumbsup:

One small spray of WD-40 onto a magic eraser. I tested this and it seems to work like a miracle on getting tar, sap, etc... off of the paint. Wash area afterwards.

Pure isopropyl worked for me. I tried Goo gone, wd40,the 90% iso. None of it worked. But pure isopropyl took it off without blinking
