Cant you just install a T connection on the PCV outlets and tap a line down to the oil pan? I would think on the driver side this would work fine(PCV outlet is on the firewall side) but the passenger side is facing the right fender, If I researched correctly....

I wouldnt do this, I dont need to, but it seems like an option in my mind.

use an oil catch can to avoid all this. its pcv out flowing into the intake

No, There is also oil pooling in the head, starving the bottom end.

I was under the impression the oil was pooling near the pcv out and going to the inlet

Let me see if I can find the diagram from the thread I saw the other day in a thread.

Keep seeing this more and more. Back in my road racing days we would find factory oiling systems at their limit. Couple quick fixes...

    1. Sump the oil pan, build more baffling, extend the pickup. Probably not the right fit considering off roading, clearance, etc.

    2. Better option sounds like an Accusump system. Plenty of room in the bay to mount it.

Yes. That’s correct. There’s two separate issues.

too small of oil drains in the head. Oil pools, gets sucked into the pcv / intake, engine drinks oil.

oil pickup in the pan gets starved from steep decline, motor is starved for oil.

I figure oil starvation is the better of the two. I think the electronics will shut it off if there is oil starvation. For oil starvation is accusump the easiest solution?

I’d rather have the oil pool in the head and just run a catch can. But remember, they’re not mutually exclusive.

I just realized youre the OP from the "another blown engine? MORR" thread.
I got the oil catch can after reading that thread.
Some people were saying to run a quart extra of oil for safety. I have no idea where the pickup is. Do you know if the quart is going to really make the difference that oil reach the pickup?

    OP you're crazy!
I'd never do that again, I paid a significant chunk of my savings for the truck. Maybe I would if I had 30x what I have.

Do you know how steep the incline was? 3rd gens will show you an approximate roll/pitch/yaw on the info panel. Does anyone know what is the maximum rated roll/pitch/yaw for a Tacoma 3rd gen without a lift? I imagine the permissible roll depends very much on the loading, i.e. how high the center of gravity is, but I was looking to get a rough sense.

How can off-roading be synonymous with "abuse" given that there is an entire section on off-road maintenance on the truck's manual?

An accusump or accumulator will give you up to 30 seconds of pressurized oil so the engine won't lose oil pressure at extreme angles

You know the Rivian's won't have such problems. It's just a really good looking vehicle, but I don't think I'm ready to have range anxiety in central Nevada.
