Given Toyota’s track record they will probably be replacing 3rd gen frames in a few years also.

I did most of Hells Revenge in Moab and didn't have one puff of smoke. I did sit on a crazy forward incline for a picture and had a warning on the dash about oil pressure. Still no smoke or dying.

I’m sure, that’s why I’m always in the 2nd Gen forum seeing what may be coming up on mine since they have a lot of the same parts.

What is that instrumental piece (song and artist) playing on your video?

The smoke looks white to me but it’s hard to tell in the video. If it’s white, it’s coolant. Blue tint to the smoke if it’s oil.

I ruined several lawn mower engines cutting grass on steep hills. OIL STARVATION.
Aerobatic airplanes have special dry oil sumps and oil reservoir to prevent oil starvation.

So many guys like to do this, you would think there is a after market device to prevent this. Start throwing ideas around, I am no motor head so I would be no help.

Interesting to learn that 3rd gen engines are closely related to lawn mower engines

a start would be to GTF up that hill a little faster. My grandmother can run faster than he’s going.

I was on Fins and Things on Tuesday and had that warning come on when I was nose down on a steep decline. No smoke though. Still scared the heck out of me.

Ah the ole " smoking while on an incline" issue. Some people say jeeps have the same issue and an oil catch can fixed it. @BigMike had the issue as well and seemed to have fixed it. Also similar with myself wife was driving off camber drivers side around 35 degree oil light and light white smoke. Hit level ground and let it all drain back to the oil pan waited a few and it was alright.

For the record, you have to be at an extremely steep angle for a long period of time, and as others said Wrangler’s do this too.

Personally I’d pull this video so Toyota doesn’t say, “there’s a video of your abusing the truck, and that’s not covered by warranty”

Then I’d go to Toyota and tell them it just started smoking while going up a hill. When they ask how steep, you should just tell them you don’t know.

Can you explain how an oil catch can would fix an oil starvation issue??

I think it would only help the burning oil issue. Still would be a starvation issue though.

I would take it to Toyota and tell them you were going up a hill and this happened, what hill you say, pick one that is near you. The truck should not be doing this any way I think
