Yep! I was a little surprised. When they brought up all the stuff that was hooked up to it, I was like "here we go..." But they came through. I had my rear diff warrantied through them as well about 6 months ago and no problems at all, even set me up in a rental car for a day on their dime. I also have slightly bigger tires and a lift.

I go to Santa Margarita Toyota in RSM. They are pretty in with the local offroad/toyota people in Socal. They host a few events a year and have some neat builds on display at their location. I vowed never to go to San Juan Capistrano Toyota again after 3 bad experiences. Even though SM is like 20 miles from me, it is well worth it for good service.

LOL brought me back to that episode of Breaking Bad for sure. I need to rewatch that again after watching El Camino... Good stuff!

My battery died about a year into owning my ‘14, only had about 4K miles on it though. The AAA tech said it wasn’t being cycled on and off and driven enough, so it went bad quickly...don’t know if that’s the deal with yours as well though.

Damn that makes sense. Not that case with me though, I drive my truck at least once a day every day.

The original early 2nd gen batteries were awesome. They changed them later on. My 05 battery made it to 2013. The 3rd gen batteries suck based on how many I read that don't even make it 3 years.

Utterly bullshit. SLA Batteries are commodities and primarily sourced in a few places with refurbished materials and low quality control. User is QA and dealer simply warrants them as it’s the overwhelmingly least cost option to using good batteries. Frankly it is for us too, cheap batteries sometimes last full life. Your CB and lights are shut off right, therefore are not parasites. If you are drawing your battery down too far then indeed you are contributing to the problem.

Lol "Here we go again" is my motto while at the dealership. Every time I go in there I regret it. 20 miles is nothing if they treat you right. Its 70 miles from me and I'm honestly debating it. I'm at 34K on the odo and have one nagging problem I'd like solved before the warranty is up at 36K. My dealership has made every excuse possible, over the course of 3 different visits for the same issue.

Hah yeah it might be worth it for you. When I went to them to buy my truck I told them about my experiences at San Juan and they were already apologetic. They have always taken care of me. But 70 miles is trek for sure. Hopefully you can get that warranty item sorted before the 36K.

Yeah definitely not running the CB or lights when the truck is off for extended periods of time. I agree it makes no sense, but hey at least they still covered it under their warranty.

I figured you had your shit together...most guys with comms do. I have a 7.5 Ahr secondary battery (with secondary charger) isolated from the main supply for my ham...I also have the ham set to auto shut off at both low voltage and lack of use intervals:

My dealership told me this wasn't a leak it was " just a spot where water from the road splashed up and rubbed off the dirt. " This was from the general manager as we looked an these photos on his computer together 20190615_180747.jpg 20190620_171725.jpg

Well, sad to say but he is a dumbass! It’s not technically a leak but it is weeping and there is a recall on some VIN’s to replace the gasket. Find a better dealership.

Yea I'm not really worried about it, I cleaned it and retorqued the bolts and have had no issues since. I just couldn't believe Toyota went from a full recall actually holding peoples trucks for weeks or months until they found a fix all because of the massive liability and then they turn around and give me this level of bull-crappery just because my vin isn't technically a part of the official recall.

Damn! That is insane. Mine was not even as bad as that and my VIN was not part of the recall either. I showed them the "weeping" mine was doing and they were immediately like, "no problem, we can definitely warranty that. We will have the parts tomorrow but if you need a rental car for the day we got you."

They took care of it and I haven't had any weeping since. They actually replaced the entire gasket and diff oil as well as re-torque the bolts to the new specs.
