Recently had to buy a new battery for my 06 Tacoma due to it starting to smell like rotten eggs. Got the new battery, everything was working great. Woke up next morning and the truck would not start, it was completely dead. Jumped it and was going good, same thing the next day. Got it started and drove it for about 30 mins to charge it back up. Checked the battery with a multimeter after an hour of it sitting, it was at 12.6v. Did a parasitic drain test with multimeter set to amps, said it was pulling 3.4. Pulled all the fuses and nothing changed. Checked the alternator with the multimeter with all electrical components on and it was running at around 13.6v. The truck started for the next couple of days with out a jump, come yesterday we did not drive it and it is completely dead again and looks as if the battery is leaking. Any help or recommendations on what to check or do would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!

Might have short in the starter. Or, just a bad battery if you had no short before you got the new one.

The battery we replaced was probably about a year old considering it was from Walmart and it all of a sudden went bad, leaking and smelling. So I don’t think we had a starter issue.. hoping it’s just the battery

I’d have the battery checked. It can’t hurt.

But some of those fuses under the hood are bolted in. One of them is the Alternator fuse. If the battery is good, I’d disconnect the alternator wire and see if the draw drops.
When and alternator fails, it doesn’t always stop charging, it can fail in a way that actually cause a draw. It is usually a bad diode.

New batteries shouldn't leak. Its possible to boil a battery by overcharging, but otherwise they shouldn't leak. I'm thinking you got a bad one.
