I think they’ll probably warranty it especially since a lot of these batteries have seemed to die around the two year mark. If not like you said drop a little coin and buy a bigger battery, not the end of the world.

While true, the reality of it is that if they want to give the OP a hard time they will just say no based on the mods, and then what? It's not a big ticket item that's worth the fight. All he can do is what someone else said, let them know that you will take this into consideration when determining where to go for future service.

I have always been leery of running electronics off of my truck while the engine’s off, even when just playing the radio. Because of my concern for the battery’s health and longevity.

Automotive batteries are not deep cycle and I do not treat them as such.

In saying all of this, my 2018’s OEM battery is still going strong to this day.

UPDATE, dealer won't warranty battery. Spoke to service manager, they have a strict policy with regards to batteries. Following are reasons why a battery would not be covered under warranty:

    Batteries with cracks
    Batteries connected to non-OEM components
    Batteries that have been recharged
Batteries that were physically damaged prior to inspection

Its fine actually, for sure going with an AGM now.

As l mentioned earlier in this thread, buy a new battery in off hours and submit the receipt to the address in the Owners Manual for reimbursement.

I have upgraded a bunch of things such as super bright brake lights, ventilated seats, and also dual channel dashcam. I'm sure they draw a lot of power, but I only use them when the truck is on and alternator is charging the battery.

So, if the alternator works fine and charges the battery, there shouldn't be any health and longevity issue right?
Is it possible that the battery's drained faster than the alternator's charging rate?

Bear with me I'm ignorant on this subject, in my mind I think of the alternator as the water faucet from where water comes, battery as a bucket, and all the devices that use electricity is like extracting water from that bucket. Maybe that's totally not how it works.

Yes they should replace it. I had some auxiliary electrical components (raptor lights + front camera) attached to my battery. Similar to you I noticed my battery getting weaker, and I was literally in the last week of my warranty. I disconnected the electrical components, but left them mounted. Went to the dealership, and they ran their 'diagnostics.' They said the internals connections of the battery were compromised. I got a free replacement battery.

Walmart AGM work great and half the cost of other AGM. 5 year warranty.

Installed the Walmart AGM 24f in my Land Cruiser that calls for a 27f. The AGM 24f has more CCA than a regular 27f. Going strong over a year now.

Unfortunately there is no AGM 24F anywhere around me. I called everywhere and not one in stock at any of the auto parts stores, Walmart, Costco, Batteries & Bulbs, etc. Some said they could potentially have one by Friday, but most likely Monday. I can't wait that long, so driving with the wife to the Batteries & Bulbs in Temecula tomorrow to get the X2 24F. Pricey but based on everything I've read, seems like one of the best. AGM 27Fs are available, but I don't want the extra weight.

Too bad. 3 walmarts near me all have the 24f in stock. Either way you will be pleased with an AGM. Plenty of CCA and they have a long warranty. Cheers man!

Let Toyota warranty it, meanwhile order the battery you want.

When the new battery arrives, take out your fresh warranty battery and give it to someone down on their luck and in need of a battery.

It will fit lots of vehicles.

Even if you're operating all of your accessories while the alternator is charging the battery, the drain on the battery may exceed the ability of the alternator to fully recharge it. So slowly over time, you're speeding the process of sulfating that battery and reducing its ability to recover to full capacity. End result = early death of battery.

You’re absolutely right in your thinking and although you claim not to know much you appear to know more than most comments here.
What typically kills batteries is either old age, heat over time or excessive parasitic draw with engine off.
If you have too many mods drawing too much power while running that’s alternator capacity upgrade time.

AGM is not the answer to all problems.

I'd think you'd need a battery that doesn't leak and you don't want to discharge it past a certain point.

Plenty of informative articles related to batteries can be found here: https://batteryuniversity.com/articles

I can see that. One time I had a Diehard AGM on a winch vehicle ... failed after two years. Sears prorated a replacement with no questions asked.

As much as I'm up for helping people, first off I lose the core charge with the new battery and then I have to deal with the rigamarole of contacting Toyota corporate since the dealership won't help. Not worth the aggravation for a $95 battery

Wondering about that too, and why his main battery crapped out… winch, light bars, amp…. Kinda risky for getting stranded somewhere when running all that off just the main battery.
