Rough running, replace coded cylinder 2 with aftermarket fuel injector. Still same rough running. What's next?

Well, what codes if any are you able to pull?

What detailed symptoms are you experiencing?

Did you get a 302 and replace just an injector without any other previous troubleshooting?

    Coils, spark plugs, and wires.

But these things should all be replaced in sets. Doing just one injector or spark plug is pretty silly.

Also before you throw more parts at it, be aware that brands matter and these 1st gen trucks are rather picky when it comes to sensors and engine components. If you're injector is anything except OEM or Denso you're just asking to do the work over again later.

P0302 Code. Replaced fuel injector with aftermarket GB Remanufacturing #842-12251. Engine rough at idle, lumpy and surging sitting at red light. Pressing down on gas pedal raising RPM's smooths out engine. At 50 mph on freeway the power lost is most evident. Test drive only after initial repair.

Have you looked at your spark plug for cylinder 2? I think your coil pack might be bad. Same thing happened to me, except I didn't drive it after noticing the cylinder misfire.

I looked at the spark plug and noticed it was different than the rest. So I replaced the coil pack, and all has been well since.

That was a pretty big leap to go from a 302 straight to replacing the fuel injector considering all the work involved with that. The typical approach is to inspect the spark plugs, and move the coils around to see if the misfire follows the coil/sparl plug... However, being on the even side of the engine, it would more likely be a bad wire, or a bad connection from the spark plug to the wire.

Agreed, but I want to say that they did that before replacing the injector.. just didn't mention it?

I don't know- It looks like they are using talk to text on their phone, and not really sharing the whole story. So gotta make sure the OP covered the basics.

Did you check to see that the IAC is connected securely? I had a rough idle problem that was from that not being connected. Easy quick check, right underneath the throttle body

The idle air control valve. It regulates your idle when not driving. When mine was not properly connected the truck ran very rough at idle, mostly fine otherwise. But I would just check that the electrical connection to it is snug. Easy to get to, over on the passenger side next to the coil packs. Shown as the grey connector on this pic.
