Okay, so I go out to my truck this morning and it smelled just a little funky in it. "Must have left some kinda food in it" I think to myself. Just had to move it a bit so the roofers could get in, so did a quick look and didn't see anything.

Little while later (as the day heated up) I went out to it again and now it was considerable funky smelling and a more through search still turned up nothing. On a guess, I took the cabin air filter out and definite signs of a mouse nest on the top, and still in the housing was the dead mouse.

Got a new cabin filter, who knows how long the mouse was dead on it, got the windows open, so hopefully it'll air out.

...but how in the world did a mouse get in there in the first place? The air inlet is inside the engine compartment, just under the windshield wipers, right? There's an intact mesh screen on that.

BTW - the set is complete now, I've had a mouse nest in my Yamaha scooter, my Kabota tractors (two of them) and now my truck. At least the others were just nests and did not include dead bodies.

Well, ya, good thing it was there. The guy at the NAPA store where I bought the new filter says the mouse in his car hit the fan and splattered all over the windshield (had the defroster on)

I don't know about the OP, but curiously enough Marmots are known to hitch hike in visitors vehicles in and around Yosemite, and sometimes to far away places. -Example

Good to know the filter can stop mice.
