They are plug and play, it's not like they hand you a circuit board and some wires and you make your own kit. Also it's verified there are separate relays under the hood for the supply. So the relays would act an an isolator and any backfeed on the output line couldn't go directly back to the ECU. So that tells me that it's not the LED or HID's causing this issue. I'm sticking with a a bad CPS

Exactly I agree with you. I'm hard pressed to see how a PSU from an HID light ballast caused any electrical noise enough to cause a major issue with the ECU. I could see maybe a short but the OP would have had lighting issues.

Relays can have issues too tho tbh. Over voltage them enough times and they start blowing fuses. Same thing happens when a PSU takes a dump, fuses start blowing.

However in this case - Toyota truck... the electrical system is pretty stout, it has to be, just look at the battery and the amps it has on the ready. I've looked carefully and some of the relays they use in vehicles over the years and they are well built all of them, even... ahem, VWs.

How did you know? I was a microwave radio engineer in my first life, we designed the radios for TV vans and helos.

PFM explanation for electronics is like the secret handshake.

I work in the SAT/NAV field with electronic chart display and integrated control systems for maritime applications so I'm very familiar with EMl.

I havent read through the rest yet (which i will in a min) but i have had HID ballast(or somewhere between ballast-bulb) interference in the past on my motorcycle. It affected my oil pressure warning light and ignition. Once when i stalled the bike, light was killed which did not do any other damage to by bike. After that I dont know if it helped but i wrapped my headlight wiring in aluminum foil.lmao
However since this is DC system, only problem i can think of is shortage/ overload/ inductive voltage somehow, but who knows...

Toyota recreated the issue with my truck. It's as some.as unplugging lights and it magically ran correctly.

It's odd.. but Toyota engineers apparently know that this could be an issue as they specifically told my service department to unplug my aftermarket lights.

For those who asked. The XB projector fog lights are problem free. I never once unplugged or messed with them, neither did Toyota. (They didn't even realize they were aftermarket)

Seems to be isolated to the LED high beams (for me) as I reinstalled my HIDs after sealing up the harness good and attacked it overzealously with a pressure washer to torture test it.

No issues after a healthy dose of silicone and an entire tube of dielectric grease.

I have not tested the LEDs yet, as I've been working. The XC LEDs had a melted wire in the driver . The 2strokes have been installed and are functioning but have not been exposed to any wetness yet.

That's pretty much SOP. First service step in any issue to remove any/and or all aftermarket electronics that are tied in to a certain circuit or that could potentially. That's usually the first question you get when dealing with any manufacture tech line.

I got my TRD Sport 4x4 in Oct 2015, and under 2000 miles in Nov 2015 the truck completely stopped. In the dash I got the engine light on and oil pressure low, traction control off. Took it to the dealer, after some diagnose (fuel injection) and been completely apart they put it back together and worked fine again. Now Feb 2016, it happened again, same as before, I got the engine light on and oil pressure low, plus A/F Fluid warning. Was not able to drive. Took it to the dealer last week, and still awaiting from Toyota, to sent a specialist to the dealer. After 5 weeks they sent a Toyota specialist to the dealer and remplaced relay block assembly with harness: Cause P062D13, P123513, P160300.

I hope this help, I have been gone for 8 months, and I just started driving it again since last week, no problems so far.
