Guys, I have had the opportunity to see the @DeadmanOffroad recovery device in person.

This will not only change the market of recovery gear, it will allow people like me who travel solo at times, to have a quickly-deployable device to save my own butt! I'll be on it when this opens! *Also, (shhhh, don't tell the OP;)) teaser here...it's super packable!!!

Thanks @Pirhett for bringing the goods here to TW!:hattip:

I am guessing it is similar to a slide anchor kind of system that boats use. Built in hammer to pound it into the ground, use it as a recovery point?

That's what the Deadman term is in engineering.

An anchor system that is hammered into the ground, reminds me of a pull pall.. but seems like it will be compact in terms of storage compared to the pull pall

Yeah should be interesting. I actually had that idea a while ago but couldn't convince myself that carrying that big spike in my car.

I have a pull pal, I tried to use it a couple years ago but wouldn't dig into the rocky ground, its been sitting in my garage ever since. Can't find a reason to carry it when I have so many other better options instead of it, in addition to the trusty old bury a tire in a last ditch emergency technique, its hard to justify stuffing a large heavy obnoxious steel object somewhere in the truck.

This acts like I said in the OP as a way to replace a tree huger and can be used on rocks...

You guys will see soon enough
