wait, your own dealership calls you? Do you get insider information, instead of the run around on pricing?

Darn, that sucks. Or maybe for the better. So did I overpay for my TRD factory lift kit? They had the truck almost 5-7 hours, charged $150 an hour. I paid it, because I respected their time, but one can be curious.

we charge 5 hrs of labor at 150 an hour i think. it takes all of 5 hours to do it by the book honestly. but once you do a few you get quicker at it. techs are book time, which means if a job pays 5 hours and its done in 10 minutes? you get paid 5 hours. but if a job pays 5 hours and takes 4 days, you get paid 5 hours. no overtime either. its pure commission. so getting quick at things is encouraged. but obviously it needs to be done right.

its a terrible setup because thats what encourages alot of hacks out there to be hacks.. but it is what it is

Haven't had that on my Taco yet, but we got a letter from multiple Kia dealerships wanting my wife to trade her '12 Sorento SX for more than we paid for it 2 years ago. Considered it, bit that car is nearly paid off already, and is damn near bulletproof too.

fair enough. I didn't complain because I respected their time and expertise. But I liked that they quoted me an accurate time frame and were honest up front about it. Plus they have to make sure the TSS worked and been happy with it since. Plus they gave me all the stock parts, washed the 2 week old truck and said how cool it looked, which I agreed.

The biggest time consuming thing is programming TSS

Well that settles that! They made it work. But they promised me 36k warranty, what does that include? I asked for documents to support this and they said there is none. The reason I ask is, what can I expect for routine maintenance and warranty on an item like that?

I split a $5000 settlement with a lawyer I found online that threatened to sue a company for robocalling me a bunch of times about a auto warranty even though I’m on the do not call list. I think his name was Sal….

Well, everything but the name is true.

PM me if you know who is robocalling you and I’ll give you his contact info, he works for free on contingency!

It’s the full 3/36 warranty with the truck. The parts don’t affect it negatively

I might kinda think about selling mine to the dealership if they would sell me a new dark blue loaded 4runner for the same price.

I'm sadly going to be selling my dad's low mileage flawless 2009 5.7 4x4 Tundra in the next few weeks for my mom.

Checked Kelly or Edmonds today and they valued it between $18 to $21K. I think that's about what he paid for it in 2009.

I don't know whether to be hurt or happy that my Salesperson/Dealership hasn't reached-out directly to buy my Taco yet. Then again, my Taco has never been back to the Dealer since the night I bought it so they have no idea how many miles are on it nor it's condition. Like others have said, if I could get into a comparable 4Runner for a decent price I'd probably be tempted to do it, but then again my Taco is growing on me the more I do to it so maybe not.

Suddenly in these times, maybe we have a little advantage, altho you never beat someone at their own game.
Dealers have been in the drivers seat for many years, especially if someone has a low credit score, and the finance guy beats them up.
    My 2 cents : Purchased 2018 4R 4/18, $36143. Our 6th 4R since 2008, always trade at 50K miles.
We have an '04 Tacoma, bullet proof, a keeper.
Because of field work coming up, the 4R has to go. Traded on a new Tacoma, OR, built 7/22.
Dealer gave us $36084 for the 4R, and threw in the $500 Military, and not on active duty. I gladly paid MSRP, got the options we wanted,
and delivery 8/12-13. We did snag an allotment, and was allowed to add more options with factory approval.
Only change to the '04, new wheels, had the drivers door re-painted, you can see the mis match. I did have Toyota mechs do the engine, cam and crank bearings, plugs and wires, canisters, water pump, belts, etc., 02 sensors, etc., etc.
Yes, a long dollar, and they delivered on reliability. Before any work, I talked to the mechs, and felt comfortable with their expertise. All good.
