So, at my 20k service at the dealer, "Tech" working on my rig saw my RCI Rear Diff Skid, and made a huge stink about how the way it attached was bad for the ThirdMember, as if it was to have a solid hit at the right angle it could really F**k things up...

I was at the dealer longer than I wanted and didn't feel like arguing with tech... So I just said OK just to not argue with him, and move on with my day...

Anyone else with the RCI Rear Diff Skid on their rig gotten any crap from the Dealer???

No but my dealer gave me crap about having 'aftermarket floor mats' that could cause an issue with the pedals... even though I pointed out it's secured to the floor in the exact same way the factory ones are... go figure

    None as of yet
hes a tech and not an engineer. And i cant see how it will cause more damage than a direct hit to the differential housing itself. And its not there for bashing against. Its there when you scrape over rocks.

haha, I had a dealer actually tell me that the problem with my manual transmission not shifting smoothly into gear was because of my aftermarket floor mats, and that they "fixed it" after taking the floor mats out. Their reasoning was that the aftermarket mat was getting in the way of pushing the clutch all the way down, but anyone with half a brain and the motivation to actually look at it could see that the clutch engaged fully with plenty of space between it and the floor.

When I took it back to them because the problem was still there, they told me that my synchros were probably going out and I should consider replacing the transmission soon. Turns out, I only had to replace the shifter seat/bushing...a $10 part and maybe 30 minutes of labor.

Dealerships are for warranty work...outside of that I'll take my truck to a trusted mechanic especially after that fiasco.

And if the diff was hit at just the right angle without it things could really get messed up. Just tell him thanks for his concern but it's your truck and it's staying and please mind your own business...:hattip:

You mean like this? I'm done with dealers. A bunch of monkeys do the basic work, not trained techs, usually kids that don't give a fack. All 4 wheels.

Here we are modding our trucks making them nice to look at and fun to drive which in turn sells more trucks which in turn gives them their jobs then they turn around and do that shit. They should embrace that stuff!

I'm lucky, my service manager has a modified 2016 Limited. He ogles my truck, and they installed my TRD Baja suspension when I broke my shoulder. There are so many trucks in NM they get it.

99% of the people who bring in the cars/trucks don't know d!@k about about cars/trucks. The dealer crybabies say what they want, when they want, to who they want and get all pissy if you actually know something about your rig. The only other thing I have for them, after warranty work, is a baseball bat with their name on it. You know......to play with.
