I leased my Tacoma a month ago. I bought it out of state because they were the only dealer who had the truck I wanted. I did a 1 pay lease. To make a long story short, They didn't know how to do a 1 pay lease. After being at the dealer half the day they said they got I figured out. I paid for the truck and left. Side note on this. While at the dealer and waiting all that time they were supposed to clean the truck for delivery. All they did was wash it. When I went out to finally go home, I did a quick look over the truck. They did not clean the interior, they threw all the environmental wrap in the bed of the truck. Literally all they did was wash the truck. I pointed this out to the sales guy and he didn't say much about it. Also they put the license plate bracket on the truck. They state I live in does not have a front plate so now I have 2 holes in my front bumper. Tired and just wanting to get home I said I don't have time to wait for you to do it right and left.

Another side note. While in the office doing the paperwork they were having some type of employee party. There was a window in the office where I was doing the papwerwork and I noticed people leaning on m new truck. I quickly went out there and asked them to stop leaning on my truck, to which no one said anything just gave me dirty looks. They rest of the time I was at the dealer all of them were looking at me threw the window giving me dirty looks.

After getting home I noticed that the truck had no inspection stickers on it. I called the dealer to ask them about it. They told me that because its out of state they will not cover my inspection. Annoyed and not in the mood to argue I let it go.

After about 3 weeks I still had not gotten my plates in the mail for my truck. Unsure about what was going on I called the dealer. The told me that they did the paperwork wrong, and were working on getting it corrected. They said they would contact me when it was resolved.

Another week passed and they finally got it fixed. I only found this out because I again contacted the dealer to see what was going on. I was told that they had done the taxes wrong and had now got it fixed and that the are going to send me the paperwork in the mail to sign and send back. I said ok and that I would contact them when it arrived.

The paperwork came yesterday and I looked it all over. The error was in my favor and I will be getting back about $70. While talking with them I said that was good news and then asked about what they were going to do about not only the no inspection but the fact hat my truck was never cleaned and also the holes in my front bumper. And that I feel something should be done being that I have waited a month for them to figure out how to do a 1 pay lease.

THE GUY TURNED RUDE AT THIS POINT AND SAID TO ME AND I QUOTE

" WE WILL NOT COVER ANYTHING, IF OUR MANAGER WAS HERE WHEN YOU WERE BUYING THE TRUCK HE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU TO LEAVE BECAUSE WE HAVE NEVER DONE A 1 PAY LEASE"

Shocked at this I said to the guy, That's fine I will be contacting Toyota when they open up on Monday and I will make sure I let them know what you told me. He then said that if I like I can talk to the general manger, I said that would be great. After being on hold for 5 min I got transferred to the secretary I said I was holding for the manager. I was placed back on hold then the finance guy I was talking to picks back up and says, his manager is busy and that he would have him call me back after he is done talking to customers. I said that's fine. I waited the rest of the day for him to call but never got a call back.

So this brings me to m question...

What should I do?. I am very angry with this dealer and at this point I am ready to just give them the truck back and go buy another one from a different dealer. I still have the paperwork and have not signed the new deal yet. Also looking over the old contract half of it is not even filled out. Most importantly the part about arbitration is not signed. What are my options at this point? Can I make them take the truck back and refund me my money? or I am stuck having to keep the deal with this crappy dealer?

    Any advice would be great.

Take it back. More trucks out now, can find what you want at another dealership. Screw them. They're not the only game in town.

But is there any legal problems with just taking the truck back?

Wow oh wow ... I guess you bought this truck at one of the DFW dealerships in Dallas .... LOL ... sounds like one of them here.

So sorry about your hardship. I have not been quite exactly in that situation but close enough that we walked out of the dealership and went to Mitsubishi and said I would never buy a Toyota. Years later a friend was treated exceptionally by a NEW Toyota dealership ... and we got the same treatment.

I know you love your truck, but this dealership sounds like a really bad one. I believe in most situations employees act based on the Top Down. The General Manager may or may not do anything, but after reading this story I would eat the crow and take it back to them. I feel they may be doing some other antics behind the scenes. If you get stopped without inspection it is all on you as they can say you are out of state.

Anyways, the dealer I went to helped me find my truck and THEY brought it in to their dealership for me. Never charged me either. I believe you can find someone to treat you descently. Places and employees who act like that only care about that ONE sale, and forget the rest.

After reading your story I wanted to come down to help pick you up after you take your truck back out of state and tell them to stick it.

I know how you feel getting treated that way.

I truly hope you get this resolved quickly and get a happier ending.

The dealer is in Maryland. I live in Pennsylvania. I am not sure I can just take the truck back. I think there would be problems trying to do that. I am not sure what to do at this point. The mistake they made mean I will get back $70. They are acting like I should bow to them because they are giving me back $70. Honestly I would love to just drive there and give them the truck and get back my payment of almost 10 grand. I am just not sure it would work that way.

I thought if they made a mistake on the paper work, it nullified the deal. Which is why they're so particular at signing. I dunno. Still. Screw them.

That is true. But from what I have been reading it seems this happens a lot, and it is not easy to just bring the car back. If it was about 1/3 of the people who buy cars would bring them back when a error happens. At least according to google that seems to be the amount of paperwork errors on new car sales. I think I need to call a attorney on Monday and ask what the procedure is if I want to return the truck for a refund

Yes, unfortunately you are probably right. So heres a thought ... give a call to some local dealerships and ask to talk to the general manager and nicely explain your story; he/she may be able to offer some advice. If not you are just out a phone call. Keep trying other dealerships. My dealership specifically made a point that they wanted lifetime customers. They go out of their way to make us happy. At a new vehicle dinner they had for us some people had bought 3, 4 and even 5 Toyotas from them over the past 6 years.

Point being chances are another dealership may be able to help you and treat you better, or give you some guidance or advice. Also see if corporate Toyota has some type of department for this.

I just looked over my paperwork. there is a paper in there that gives me the right to return the truck if the deal changes in any way. Because Toyota rejected the contract because they did the paperwork wrong the decision sits with me.

Sounds like you've been much more forgiving/nice than I would have been. I'd have walked out after the first hour of them screwing around. I've bought 2 cars and been in and out in 30-45 minutes both times.

Hey OP, that sounds great! One small note though .... what in the deal has changed? You went in to lease a truck and they leased you one .... the paperwork not filled out right may or may not qualify; the deal was for a lease and they have delivered as YOU are in possession of the truck. It is easy for us on a forum to tell them to stuff it but they didn't fill out the form complete, but many times a dealership has MORE MONEY and a staff of lawyers on retainer. You can return the truck and they may sue you because the truck is USED NOW. They may not win, but they can make your life miserable.

Best bet is to get some advice from another dealership and see what your options are. They will have that paper as well. If you find a nice dealer then maybe they can work with you such as; take over ownership of that truck or the lease, or help you with the return of the vehicle. In the ideal situation they can return the truck for you and get another one in.

There is obviously some experience I have gone through to know this ... but the best motto is to speak softly and carry a BIG STICK; OR so to speak to not unfold your cards to the original dealership until you get your research done and you KNOW EXACTLY what you can or can not do.

Screw that walk in yelling arms flailing and feet fidgeting. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I walked out on a dealer over a $1 on my monthly payment. They ran me down as I was driving out to say ok on my deal. I told them that's great but I was going to have lunch with my wife and that I would be back later. I don't think they thought I would be back but I did and I got the deal I wanted.

Op I think you where very patient (to patient for me) during the purchasing process and they know that you love that truck (you drove out of state for it). Right out of the gate you are out more time and effort then they are in selling the truck and then they put holes in the bumper and fresh the bed. You should of dumped that shit right on the show room floor and told them that they forgot to keep it. I hope you take the truck back just on principle. If you don't you are going to resent that Tacoma everytime anything goes wrong with it and you are going to think back to when you bought it and didn't take it back.

I got my drum ready. The chant outside that dealership should go like this
TAKE IT BACK drum drum TAKE IT BACK drum drum TAKE IT BACK.
do a TW meat at the dealer and start pissing people of. :smack:

They did the numbers wrong. And also they never checked the arbitration clause. So Toyota rejected the contract. The dealer never did a 1 pay lease before so basically everything with the paperwork is wrong and Toyota will not accept it until it is corrected. When they corrected it, it ended up being my favor for about $70. So they said they will give me a check for $70 since I over paid. But are refusing to pay for the inspection or give me a new front bumper or re pay me the money I spent to have the truck cleaned.
