Wow that is good news ... that is definitely a broken lease ...so good news is KEEP the truck ... and continue to drive it but DON'T sign the papers ... phone the dealership after hours and leave a voice message that you need some help with the paperwork and then don't take their calls when you are busy. Then after awhile you can state you are unhappy with the lease agreement and offer for THEM to come get the truck. LOL

    Karma .... comes around.

Whatever else you do, find all internet review avenue for this dealer (other Toyota Forum, Yelp etc). Write BAD review (per your experience).

In today's world, any smart dealer knows one bad publicity will lose them 10 sales.

Additionally, do what I do, PUT everything in WRITING. Don't wait for phone call. Find the GM/Owner of the dealership. Send them letters (per your experience). Make sure it is CERTIFIED and they have to SIGN to receive letter (few bucks at post office). I also send the letters faxed to the dealership.

I had an experience like this buying a lexus from a Raleigh dealer from my elderly mother (added 10K to price when my mom went to sign) and refused to get the money back. I did all I stated above, dealer took the car back, and Lexus NA stepped in and gave her a credit of $7500 on ANY new lexus she wanted to buy at any dealer in the US as a good will (this was my parents 8th Lexus).

Once you get regional manager, Toyota corporate, BBB, dealership owner involved, you will see the results....

I also had an ordered BMW years ago, where I had them write down no drilling in front for plate. My state requires front plate. They did it anyways. I didn't take delivery, they ordered me another car, another 3 months wait, and they waved $1500 after I complained to the owner.

As someone said, SQUEAKY wheels get the grease.

You have been overly nice and professional, and dealers take advantage of nice guys.

    Good luck

Take that sucker back. And make sure you drive through every mud puddle on the way.

Also make sure you contact anyone you can at Toyota. They will want to know how that dealership is representing their brand.

Do you like the truck? You mentioned it was the one you wanted, correct? Other than the tag holes in the bumper, is there anything wrong with it?

Do you want to keep that truck, and just disassociate with the dealer? If so,

I'd make an appointment with the GM at your local dealer, the one you prefer to do warranty work with if needed. I'd explain the situation and show him all the papers. He may volunteer to help you clean up the mess, or he may ask what you'd like him to do.

I'd tell him you'd like to keep the truck, but disassociate with the other dealer, and have the contract and such all redone (correctly and completely) through him.

There is probably a couple of ways he can do that.

    1) He may be able to do it all via just paperwork. Like he'd acquired the vehicle from them for you.

    2) Or it may require a physical return of the truck to the original, wipe out your deal, 2a) and have the new dealer literally acquire the truck and put you in it.

    3) Or he now has what you want in inventory, or the inventory pipeline, and you can strike a deal to your satisfaction. Then he guides you through how to do 2a.

And whatever you do, even if you just return the truck on your own, and start over elsewhere, always take the high road.

Doesn't mean you aren't firm with your discussions, doesn't mean you get pushed around, doesn't mean you don't give poor service reviews (politely) on various websites.

Just means you don't stoop to their level, damaging or abusing the vehicle, having temper tantrums or just plain being a jerk. Because that makes you, well, a jerk.

Good luck! Hope it all works out well for you!

You can likely take the truck back as they changed the contract. You need legal advice.

A friend of mine once bought a Porshe 911, he was tired of it after a week. The dealer changed the finance contract so he took it back.

    I must be missing something.

How dirty could the inside of a brand New Truck be? You are all up in arms because they didn't "clean" the truck, they only washed it?? How many miles were on it when you took delivery? Hard to imagine it being trashed inside.

On the Plate thing. Did you ask them NOT to mount the plate frame?? I ask, because I assume the state you bought it requires a front plate.. So unless YOU specifically ask them not to do it, I would have to assume that installing the frame is standard policy for them. In my state (which requires the front plate) its generally one of the first things they do before the trucks go on the line before sale.
    .

I cant see how you can get all bent, unless they did it after you told them not to.

About the sale, Did you just show up at the dealer, or had you already talked to someone in sales and sealed the deal? I ask, because when I bought my Tacoma, I worked out every detail on the phone before I left my house. It makes for a much easier and much faster time at the dealership. I looked over truck, drove it, and signed the papers and was on my way in less than an hour.
If you just walked in off the street, I can see there being more delays since the finance guys are probably closing other deals with other customers and you will have to wait longer.

Lastly, why didn't you man up and talk to the manager at the dealer before leaving? If it was as bad as you say, why not call them out right there. If they didn't rectify your issues, you could have just walked away. No one forced you to buy it..

    Here's my two cents...

    It's water under the bridge.

Complain to Toyota, and leave experience online.

After that, enjoy your truck. In two months you'll forget everything anyway.

Why waste your time beyond that? What do you hope to achieve? If somehow you return the truck, then you go through the same experience at a different dealership?

No matter what effort that you put into trying to get some recompense for what's essentially hurt feelings, you won't achieve anything. The dealership employees will always go home without a care while you sit at home and stew about it.

At this point, they're not going to care & neither should you. Leave a bad review & perhaps someone will comp a free car wash next time you're in town.

I feel bad about your hassles, but if you're happy with the truck, that's all what matters.

First of all yes I called before and set a appointment with the dealer about the truck. I don't just drive 2 hours out of state for fun. I also did say do not put the bracket on. Also the interior was filthy. The truck was a dealer trade from another dealer a few weeks earlier and got driven im guessing threw a rain storm because there was mud all over the interior, the windows were all smudged and dirty. I did mention the condition of the truck to the sales guy but after being at the dealer for 5 hours I just wanted to get out of there. As I mentioned in my original post. Maybe you are different but I expect a brand new truck to be spotless on pickup. Maybe you are ok with dirty cars but I am not. Maybe you don't care if your things are not taken care of but I do. Don't have any clue why you would comment on my thread with such negativity unless you are just trolling for fun. In any case I will be contacting the dealer this morning.

Op. Iman I feel for you because I think you got taken for a ride but you can sometimes be your worst enemy. You want your new truck to be taken care of but it doesn't sound like it was before you bought it. You expect a new truck to be spotless on pick up but it wasn't. You just wanted to get out of there after 5 hours and you should have but without the truck. But you did leave with a dirty new truck with holes in the bumper that you asked not to be put there. Like I stated before on a previous post. They saw you coming from out of state. I hope you can take it back but in the mean time bend over and it might take a wile.

If you're beyond 30 days, returning the truck may not be an option, regardless of the paperwork. You should check the laws of both states. You may eventually win and get them to take it back but at what cost? Lawyers? Court fees? etc??
It will be more hassle than it's worth if they put up a fight. Returning a truck that you've been driving for a month will not be easy. Call a lawyer and try to get a FREE opinion. If the lawyer wants a consulting fee to even discuss it, then that's up to you.

Forget the state inspection sticker. I buy my Volvo's out of state all the time, hence they can't provide a sticker and I have to get an inspection sticker myself once home. This is not unusual for cars purchased out of state. The best you can do is negotiate the sticker cost into the deal ahead of time. I can't believe a Maryland dealer promised you a Pennsylvania inspection sticker? It's not possible.
In MA, the vehicle need to be connected to the state's inspection system via the OBD port to suck the info from the vehicle's computer needed to generate a sticker.

You're bringing up all the issues with them this weekend, that happened a month ago? What if your plates came in a timely fashion and the paper work was correct from the get go? You'd be moving on from the issues of dirty truck, no sticker, and front plate bracket, correct?

It seems like now, a month later, you find out the paperwork was messed up, so NOW you're trying to use this opportunity to address all the things that went wrong a month ago? Like you have them over a barrel with the paperwork? It's not like you took delivery 3 days ago.

IMO.. you should have never accepted delivery of a dirty truck, or with the front bracket installed, or w/o a sticker, if those 3 items bugged you that much.

I know I may sound negative, and I don't like raining on anyone's parade, but the facts are the facts. Good luck with whatever avenue you decide to pursue.

Bottom line is if you like the truck, just move on and bring it elsewhere for future service and warranty work.

I say take it back if you can. I would never have accepted it in the first place in that condition but it's too late for that.

Sub'd for whatever happens next. Best of luck OP.

Just got home. The dealer took the truck back and cut me a check on the spot. I got the General Manager involved this morning because I didn't feel like playing the back and forth game with the sales people. He apologized several times for all the hassle. So I am out nothing but my time, so I am not too angry anymore. Just means I have to start truck shopping again. I am not sure if I am going to buy another truck. I just wanted a good reliable winter vehicle, as my sports cars don't do well in the snow...lol.. I need a few days to get over the whole ordeal and then decide if I want to go back out and get another truck or something else.

Thanks everyone for all your input, I appreciate it.
