Report that MF to corporate and the managers. The dealer should be pissed that the opportunity to make money was lost.

How are you going to get a 4 wheel alignment on that rear solid axle? Just curious.

When I asked the dealership about my truck slightly pulling to the right, they claimed it was a safety feature on all Tacomas where in case you fall asleep at the wheel, your truck won't drift into oncoming traffic.

Dealers will often give FU prices or FU excuses not to do work. Especially work with little margin. It's also about opportunity costs. If my guy isn't screwing around with an alignment at low margin - what could he be doing at high margin instead?

Hell - the shop I ran, we refused to do ANY alignments - call the tire place down the road. Last thing I wanted was you coming back in 2 months after you curbed the truck 9 times and trying to blame me for tire issues due to the alignment we did.

I totally get that, and that of course it's the business' choice. We have had this same discussion at my work- we fully know we could make more, by shucking off bad customers(OP doesn't sound like one though), and taking care of the good ones.
Of course on the other side of the coin- it's the perfect opportunity to let your competitor win your customer's biz.

Like I said, I’ve heard some stupid shit that I am fully inclined to believe him.

When the nitrogen tires first came out I was told that if I put regular air into nitrogen tires, it will unpredictably mix with the nitrogen, increase the air pressure in the tires, and could potentially lead to a blowout.

This was a dealer who was charging like $150 to inflate your tires with nitrogen.

Dead serious. I'm not the that versed when it comes to vehicles, and this is my first truck and first new vehicle, but I kinda figured that it was complete bullshit when the guy said that. I guess it's a good thing they didn't try to work on the alignment after all of the other shitty service I've gotten from the dealership.

If you want to mess with the idiot a bit, ask him to explain in more detail; and then point out the various TRD models have the exact same wheelbase as an SR/SR5 (assuming identical cab and bed size) and the wheel/tire combinations have the same diameter as well (give or take a tenth of an inch).

Ya’ll do realize that the customer service rep is not the person working on your truck, yes?

Most shops just want to toe and go. These trucks sometimes need some caster love (especially after a lift), which techs hate to do.

I had to bring mine back to Firestone three times because I wasn't about to accept the shopping-cart caster.

Bring it to a shop that specializes in alignments, make them do it right the first time. Trust me, my lost time more than made up for the discount price.

I’m guessing that there are some caster issues that they are just not qualified to do and they’ve been yelled at for it in the past by unhappy customers, so they just don’t do it.

Most dealer alignments are really shitty and he would be better off going to a professional shop.

You realize the service advisor is there to advise on service, yes? If the person who's supposed to act as an intermediary between tech and owner doesn't understand an alignment, they should move to the front end of the house and make coffee for the salesmen.
