    Hi Everyone,

New member here on a waiting list for a 2022 Tacoma Off Road. I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on getting the dealer installed lift. If so do you think it is worth the money?

    Thanks

There are much better performing options for less or even money. In general, anything you get from the dealer is going to be more expensive than it's worth. The only good thing about that kit from the dealer is the grill upgrade that comes with it.

I'd be looking at something like Bilstein 6112/5160 + Headstrong 3-leaf AAL. Much more performance for the $.

Why do you want to lift your new truck? If you do get it lifted having the dealer do it won’t or shouldn’t void the warranty. Having someone else do it , who knows how it will affect warranty.

It's quite expensive for what you get. But it's 1 and done. No muss no fuss, you get a lift, dealer warranty on the parts and labor etc.

Personally I would encourage a simple 5100 kit with a 1" block or any step above that, and spend the savings on new tires.

ex: https://www.suspensionlifts.com/sho...0-1-lift-rear-shocks-2016-2017-toyota-tacoma/ Will ride near identical to the dealer lift.

better https://www.suspensionlifts.com/sho...1-rear-5160-lift-kit-2016-2017-toyota-tacoma/ Ride much better and handle offroading much better. I wish I had this.

Add a 100$ block kit or aal for rear lift.

I have it and it rides great. I did the install myself though. I have a side by side so I wasn’t looking for anything to crazy. Just enough to tow the RF road a bit

The dealer installed TRD lift comes with a grill upgrade?

You might be able get it by itself but I've only seen it marketed as a bundle with new grill and the radar sensor thingy for whatever the 3rd gens have in terms of radar cruise or braking (I'm not familiar with this feature).

Not a lot of bang for your buck at $1750 + dealer mark up + tax + installation.

I had the TRD lift installed by the dealership on delivery. That gets you 100% warranty coverage and (if it’s a good dealership) confidence that it is done correctly.
The Heritage grill and a new TSS sensor are part of the package. If you are in some jurisdictions, the dealer is supposed to install some fog light coverings, but they are easily removed.
BTW: depending on what trim you start with, the original shocks can fetch a few hundred bucks through your favourite online marketplace.

Dealer installed anything is like ordering the house wine at your local Italian. You know you're paying $40 for a bottle of $8 Merlot, but by golly, it's easier than bringing your own.

I prefer buying the $25 bottle and paying the 5$ corking fee to have the all around better experience, but that's me.

With how picky my dealer is with anything aftermarket and warranty repairs, I would go with the dealer installed lift. It seems my dealer will look for anything aftermarket to not do warranty work.
