Oh I figured nobody would be able to diagnose it over the web. There's just been a lot of help, and I am grateful. That's why I took it to toyota, so they could tell me what was wrong. And they didn't come up with the right diagnosis. If the service writer had written what I told him to, it would have given the tech a place to check. But he was more concerned about speed and money. I am almost 100% positive it has something to do with a valve, whether it be rocker arm, lash adjuster, etc. I doubt the valve lash has ever been checked on this truck cause I'm now trying to catch up on the maintainace the previous owner slacked on

No I've got a buddy coming over in a little to help me test some sensors and I'm gonna drain the gas tank and throw a new filter on and see what happens.

I love the power of the internet if you have the time to actually sit back and talk to mechanics all over and especially about one type of truck usually you can get it figured out. Thanks again to the great people out there on this forum who are trying to help me diagnose my truck. Im afraid of the dealership haha my ol b:eek: hole puckers thinking about taking my truck there.

I just got back from the toyota dealer. Talked to the service manager and he's a real nice guy. Came out to try and hear the noise. Naturally my truck pulled the old "there's a problem till a mechanic is near trick", and it wouldn't make a noise till I pulled in my driveway. Manager told me to bring it back when it is making it and they'll investigate further. I'll try to go back when it's warmer here in florida. It's a little cool now, and that always seems to make the noise quiet down. On the plus side a customer made me an offer on my truck for more then I paid for it!!! Quite tempting lol

OK, so the Dealer is "attempting" to help you... step in the right direction, correct ??

If you sell the truck, what will you replace it with and would you actually make $$$ and what if your next purchase has problems???

Last question, Florida Thread has a GREAT group that answers questions, have you gone down that I-4 route yet ??? ;)

Good Luck either way.....and I "get the frustrated tech/shop" syndrome...We left our "great tech/shop" in NH and are starting over in FT.Myers for major Lexus/Toyota repairs..

Yes the dealer is attempting to help me. That is the problem, I don't have another vehicle to drive in between trucks. And what do you mean by the other 2 questions? I'm confused

Well they are helping. The service manager was also confused as to why they diagnosed ticking as bad coils. He literally asked me why they diagnosed that. I'm going to bring my truck back for them to look at

That is good to hear. Perhaps now they will be able to determine the actual cause of YOUR noise, and maybe credit you the diag fee?

That's what it seems like. It wouldn't tick very loud when I was there. But he said if it does it again bring it back. Of course it ticked on the way home lol
