Yep, I’m in New York- already seeing signs of truck prices dropping a couple thousand. This is just the beginning.

VWs are great cars, you just have to be smart with maintenance. My daily is a 2005 GOLF TDI with 240,000 miles and rides like new… i just maintain it. All of my VWs have been great vehicles, because of simple routine maintenance.

Here in Tennessee I see the market changing- the local dealer used to have every tacoma pre sold with a 3 month wait- now they have 2 new tacomas and they have not sold in 2 weeks……
Historically, high gas prices have killed new truck sales every time!

I'm wondering just how many new sport manuals access cabs have been made for this year and how many more will be made ?

Never said in stock. I said listed on their website. A handful of their listed vehicles say sale pending, but many of them do not. McGee Toyota in NH.

You've made it clear that you don't want or need my blessings to do so, but I've told you several times that if you want to be a fool and pay over MSRP that you're welcome to do so. If you give dealers permission to rip you off, they're going to rip you off. Stop being part of the problem.

We just bought a new car for my wife, which we had to wait a long time for. I don't mind waiting. We have an established relationship with this place and they're easy to work with. Long story short, we got a discount when most people are paying MSRP. They started with "Yes, you're a good customer, but we're getting MSRP for everything," I said "Ok, let me know when you're willing to give a $500 discount and I'll order one." They called the next day to let me know they ordered one for me. When Audi canceled that order, I called around to find dealers wanting $10,000 markups. I told them all the same thing. "Call me back when you're willing to sell for MSRP or less and I'll buy." In the midst of all this our local dealer sourced one for us and of course kept their word. The next day 2 of the other dealers called back and miraculously dropped their $10,000 markups to MSRP. A little bit of tenacity and patience pays off. And her new car is lovely by the way and our bank account is $500 better off than it would have been if I caved.

Tell em to take the markup off or you’re going to go to a another dealer.

People are very impatient, these dealers feast off them. I always shake my head when people go in negotiating payments on leases without figuring out the exact deal, truly mind boggling.
You would think people would be interested in their decision making on their (most likely) 2nd most expensive purchase of their lives

Bob Howard in OKC were the ultimate douche bags. They had and EL Pro listed for MSRP on their site and auto trader, but when I called them they basically told me it was an auction and they would take down my "highest offer" and give me a call back if it was enough. I told them to pound sand.

This isn't true at all. It means the vehicles are allocated to the dealer and potentially for sale. The most recent friend who purchased a Tacoma from them went in and was given a list with about a dozen vehicles that checked all the boxes he wanted to choose from.

In the Gulf States region, a truck “listed” at a dealer means nothing. It means you might get a shot at buying it if one of the other dealers in the region doesn’t sell it first.

At least that seems to be what is happening around here.

Here’s an example. Do you really think the douche bags at Texas Toyota in Grapevine, Texas have 63 Tacomas allocated to them? Not a chance.

Actually, he does have that luxury. And it's still not an excuse to not shop around and not let dealers rip you off. I love how you morons justify overpaying for vehicles.

I paid $1000 above MSRP, am I happy No. But after a few months of dealing with 7 different dealers and not being able to find everything I wanted I gave up. Two weeks later the nearest dealer to me called they placed an order for what I wanted, which is TRD OFF ROAD, LONG BED, Cloth interior, Lunar Rock not every gadget but just enough for my needs. From reading on here TRD OFF ROAD, LONG BED, LUNAR ROCK is hard to find, just what 7 dealers told me, and I experienced from my own searching. $1K will be about $20 more in my payments. I have a car, which is my daily errands car has 330,000 miles and has some issues no more adding money on it when it dies it dies, my Tundra has a $3000 repair job needed, runs fine now but if will get worst in time. I got a decent offer for it....Plus the new Tacoma is my retirement gift to myself
