I took my 24 ORP in several months ago for the included oil change and tire rotation. Went in at 5K because no way was I waiting until 10K for first oil. The tech banged my rims up. I love the satin black so it really jumped out. They repaired them even though it was a hassle. Went in last week for 10K service (oil, tire rotation) and the open recalls. Made sure to tell the service manager to tell the tech not to bang up my rims. They took all day with it and, sure enough, when i got there found the rims had been chipped around many of the lugs.

They just picked up my truck to repair the rims yet again. I have one more oil change for free from them but will not have them rotate the tires again. This is just plain incompetence. Not sure how they let these tech touch a vehicle if you can't even change a tire without damaging the wheel. This isn't Nascar and we pay too much for these vehicles to have them torn up every time the dealer touches it.

Sorry for the rant. Just had to get it off my chest to people who understand. Wonder it the Pro rims are a little more durable......

I wouldn’t have them do the oil change either. Can you DIY? Then you know it’s done to your satisfaction.

I usually do all of my own maintenance but will save money and have them do the oil. After the free ones are done, won't take it back unless it's a warranty issue or recall.

Just keep in mind that the knucklehead that doesn’t care and is chipping the rims is also the one tightening the oil pan bolt. Sometimes free isn’t really free.

Oh yeah. Well aware. I always hop underneath and make sure it's tight after the dealer does it. Part of the reason is just to have it on record that the service was done for the first few. After that, I'll just make sure to keep a log. If anything went wrong in the first year or two, I'd just point to their system and say "You guys did all of the mainenance".

Just the rims? I would go over every inch of your truck before and after each visit. I even take videos as I walk around it. I have had them scratch the paint and stain the interior before. They just don’t GAS anymore. I only take my vehicles in if I absolutely cannot do it myself. I think they do it on purpose because they want to keep their work volumes down.

As I posted in the other thread, the dealer lube tech remembered to put oil in the engine and didn't clip the building on the way out (or worse, run over a coworker). Take it as a win and do your own tire rotations from now on...

I honestly wouldn't even be able to tell if they added scratches to my TRD OR wheels after the trails we did

I also just don't really care since they're gonna get more fked up in the future too.

I always put green painters tape around the lugs when I drop off the truck if the wheels are being removed

The butchery happens more often at the filter than at the drain plug :p

I’m sure the reason is they are using a regular socket instead of a thin walled socket. That and just trying to get them off as fast as possible and not really caring about if they nick the rims while hitting the next lug nut.

Lol. I have no issues with things that I do but really get perturbed when others are careless with my stuff. Scratch on the trails, you earned it.

Thin walled socket with teflon sleeve. I keep a set of those in my truck cubby.

And then I get my 20V impact and ugga-dugga the shit out of them. But at least they look fantastic when I do so.

You can pay less for a 5-series than a Trailhunter or Pro right now, so these service stories we hear about lately are unacceptable by any standard. Gotta call these dealers out, make sure nobody spends their money there. Fortunately, most towns have multiple options, but with a dealer like this one, it’s worth driving to the next town for service before you’re dropping 5 quarts at a four way stop. Good luck.

Just had to use a die to fix the wheel lug threads on my dad’s daily driver and get a new lug nut. Incompetent idiot the dealer for some reason trusted with an impact gun probably put the lug nut in the socket while it was on the impact and went at it to put it back on.

None of all this is surprising and why my truck’s service center is my garage and nowhere else.

Get some steel wheels it's going to take some effort to nick those with a socket.

There are very different camps in this realm.

To start, one has to have a truly premium brand for a tire rotation getting special treatment, and even DIY can show tool marks. There are also very different buyers of pickups in more recent times. They've gone far beyond work and task oriented vehicles for many and are identity and cosplay stuff. A few in my neighborhood laugh privately over how two dudes spend more time polishing their pickups and boats than actually using them.

A set of these is next on the list

42601-AK031 But the TRD OR wheels keep getting compliments so maybe not

My only hesitation to going steelies is they probably weigh a fking ton and the 265 on the TRD OR wheels is not that heavy of a setup.
