I doubt it.. it is mixing the profit over the two deals. Make a few grand on trade in and make another on the sale

unless you are having problems with your '17 or need a new/different truck (such as a longer bed, crew cab, etc.), i would pass and keep your truck. at the average miles per year on your '17, it has a lot of life left and i would keep it.

Interesting take. I'm considering that too. This is really a dilemma. If this is my biggest problem in life, I guess I'm lucky.

Your truck is almost broken in , as said above lots of life left . if you are getting bored with it add a nice stereo system to it and drive it for
Many many years trouble free and it paid off ! Its a win win

I wouldn't spend 48 on a "new" Tacoma when its literally the same thing you have now.

Mine is similar and a Ford dealer offered me 29,700 cash or 31,700 trade.

If you have a payment it’s a good consideration, if you have no payment currently and would have payment on the new truck I would probably pass. The devil you know is always simpler than the devil you don’t.

I recently got rid of all car payments and still have a nice car and a 4 year warranty which is nice piece of mind. My truck however is a pile of crap that gets the job done only driving it less than 200 miles a month let’s me keep it around in its current state.

I’m in the boat of also having a pre-Covid truck so I’m sticking with it has no issues runs great. Don’t really want to take a chance on anything new right now.

I don’t know if this helps, but I had a 2015 TRD Sport and unfortunately it was totaled last March. I had 146,00 miles on it and planned on driving it for 300,000 plus. After waiting 3 1/2 months I received the TRD Sport I ordered and it cost $43,000. I do LOVE the technology and minor improvements, but I would not have bought a new truck if my 2015 wasn’t totaled, but I am frugal! Do what makes you happy and what you can afford.

I can figure out how to post a photo, believe me, you can too. Find a kid at Starbucks or something to help you out.

I was also at a dilemma although my truck was a Ram. I like my old truck but definitely would like new because well.....it’s new. I was offered $18k on my 2012 model with 64k miles. I debated it but considering I paid around 29-30k new I had to think about a few things. Trade in value will never be higher (basically it’s cost me under $100 a month for usage of the ram), $18k saves quite a bit of sales tax, current msrp isn’t going to drop, and interest rates if you need to finance are going up. After thinking about the fact my boy drives in 2 years we decided we would rather give him something newer at that point so I decided to trade for a new Tacoma. Hopefully it’s delivered this week.

Nothing at all. They approached me while the truck was in for service. That's what makes this whole situation interesting. I don't have to, wasn't planning on switching, but 6 years newer...

I've been getting letters and emails from the dealer for over a year now. Starting out the offer was "up to" 17k on trade for a used SR5 with 40k miles. Then "up to" 24k on trade for a SR5 2WD. Last letter was "up to" 17k on a 2019 4RUNNER with 46k miles. I'll keep my 2013 with 112k miles. Too many mods to either remove or start over.

Just so you know for future reference... I'd have negotiated that deal up to $33.6K on your trade-in... and then told them you would take the initial 26K with a corresponding reduction in price on the new vehicle. Reducing the price reduces the taxes you pay, but getting a higher trade-in without a reduction in price means you pay full bore taxes.

I'd like to see that window sticker of the 22 limited. A 22 limited starts at 39,905. Nearly 8k more in options I guess.
