Ok guys so just want to make sure I'm in the right, I feel kinda wrong I guess this is my first vehicle covered under warranty (got the 100k miles).

I got my truck last sunday and LOVE IT!!! However there are some flaws.

Its being detailed, I asked them to fix the speedometer (its off by 4mph).

Now I have some other issues Im going to ask them to check into and I feel like Im just complaining and complaining to them and not appreciating the truck. I dont want to look like a Ahole unless I have to.

The other three issues are I get a vibration at 25-30mph (read the TSB on that), my leaf springs give me a harsh ride when hauling something (read TSB on that as well), and I get a very noticable vibration at 50-60 (its not BAD but its bad if that makes sense). Im thinking the 50-60 might be wheel balance or alignment issue.

Any should I feel bad going in for the first time and asking them to check all this?

Im going to the windy city for x-mas and dont want to have a long vibrationy ride lol

    Thanks!

    -Hunter

P.S. Dont get me wrong I LOVE MY TRUCK!!!

I was told the extended warranty (platinum) covered pretty much everything, if thats not the case why have it?

My speedo is because they put bigger tires on it so they said they would recalibrate it under warranty.

If they do not fix my leaf springs as you say then I will look into that! I was already checking out the 5100s anyway :D

Edit if they dont fix the 25-30mph thing either is there a easy fix for that, its not that big of a deal but it is kind of annoying when Im in slow traffic lol

Thats freaking retarded if they dont fix it Im going to cancel my extended warranty no point to have it.

It will save me more money a month to go towards mods anyway

So your truck is brand new? If so you qualify for the TSB's under the 36k mile warranty.

The higher speed vibration is probably a tire/balance issue, but the other issues will be covered by the TSBs.

The speedo issue is something that is normal to most, if not all, tacomas.

Yeah I was just searching on it.

Seems hit and miss well if they do it they do it, if they dont they dont. Cant bitch and complain over sour milk. I still love my truck and its not going to make me hate toyota or the service manager.

Try my best all I can do, if they say no hello new leaf pack, maybe AAL's but most likely new leaf packs.

She is a 06 with 37.8k miles. Got her with 37k.

Yeah Im guessing the high speed is balance issue as well.

Really why are the speedos so F***ed I hate doing 50 then realize Im really doing 45....

    UPDATE:

Dealer just called service manager I THINK, not sure.

Anyway they called and they were asking me some questions about what all was wrong with it and they are going to diagnose it. Told him no problem told him everything.

He said by the sounds of it everything should be fixed and that there was a TSb on the leafs.

BUT he said he cant guarantee anything he will call me tomorrow morning around 9am and let me know how its going and what they're going to do.

I said good stuff thank you very much, then he said have a good day.

Edit they also called my mom first who gave them my number because I knew what was wrong with it she didnt. She told me the person I spoke to was the person who approves everything and it was on his desk. If that helps (thats why Im thinking it was the service manager).

He called while my bed was being delivered so my focus was in 2 different places.

    UPDATE:

I received a call from the tech at toyota telling me they fixed my speedometer without any issues they were about to look into the other things when the sales guy came and took the truck back.

I called my sales guy he said it was being painted, I said ok what about the other issues were they resolved?

He said "the speedometer was fixed and the tech guy said everything else was fine"

Now my phone records all conversations I have had....

I tell him oh yeah? The tech guy just called me and said they didn't even have a chance to look at the other problems....

He said well he said, and I said no stop.

I dont mean to be rude but Im straight to the point, you have had my truck for 3 days (dropped it off on tuesday as he requested early) the only thing that has been done is detail, fixed speedometer, and now they are fixing the paint. That does not take 3 days.

I want these issues resolved, he said ok well when its done in paint I'll take it to the tech and talk to him.

I called the tech back told him what I said and when he gets there to call me if he doesn't call me. Tech said not a problem sir!

So we will see how it goes, I have already called a different toyota dealer (closer to me) and asked if I can bring my truck in their if I have a 100k mile warranty for service because I felt like I was being mistreated at another dealer they said

"Absolutely Sir! Bring it in and we will be more then happy to help you! I mentioned my TSB for the rear springs he said yeah we can look at them not a problem*

    So we shall see

The Toytec AALs are not that expensive, so I would just go that route if the dealership wants to be a dick.

Yeah it's funny thought that I caught him lying....

Considering I talked to the tech directly, then the sales guy.....

When I go down Im going to let him listen to the convo me and the tech had then let him listen to the first 30 seconds of our convo of him saying he said the tech said blah

    he said she said bullshit

    UPDATE:

Just got off the phone with them for the 2nd time this morning.

My vibration in the front at 50-60 is because of tires they are not good.... They just put this Michillens(sp?) on before I bought the truck. They said to make the vibe go away I would have to replace them.....

Im going to take it to a shop and have them balance the tires, see if they are lying or not. Considering the vibe randomly came about I'm thinking they just need balanced I used to work at a tire shop.

2ndly Seems I am going to be denied for my TSB not that big of a deal. I did mention I know people who have got it done without a problem with the 100k mile warranty, and if they do not do it Im going to cancel my warranty because its practically no good.

*he said* "well my tech said if your not planning on hauling anything or towing anything then it shouldn't be a problem"

I said "Yes sir I understand that and please do not take this the wrong way but I purchased my truck with all intentions to use it as a truck if I wasn't going to tow anything or haul anything I would have gotten a SUV not a truck"

He chuckled and said I understand. Let me go talk to my manager and see what we can do for you.

I said I appreciate that and sorry for all this crazy confusion that has been going on when I pick up my truck I would like to thank you in person.

    he said no problem.

So hopefully Im going to go pick up my truck today and possibly get my windows tinted while Im in L-Ville.

Also on another note should I try to take it to another dealer to get my TSB done I mean is it really worth all that trouble?

Or just grab a AAL and be done with it!

    OK so yet another update

Went to toyota to pick up my truck on the way I called customer service to see if they could help me, she said they could and gave me a file number.

I arrive and look at my truck they slapped paint on the scratch looked horrible, and they did not even detail it, it was horrifically dirty.

I talk to the HR Manager who gets the manager of toyota dealership and he comes to talk to me I explain to him all the stuff thats going on and how I feel like I'm being hassled around.

    It wasnt detailed
They told me SOL for TSB
    Paint looked horrible.
The tires are brand new and they told me they were bad.
The loaner car had the E light on when given to me.

He said I will have it fully detailed, we will replace the leaf springs, balance the tires if that doesnt fix it we will get you new ones, and we will fill up your taco.. Fix the paint to make it look better.

I said thank you very much sir. He said he didnt want me to tell anyone bad things about them I said as long as this is taken care of I wont, I will speak well of you guys.

So I feel pretty good now its going to be done tomorrow afternoon the latest monday evening (if they have to order the rear leaf springs)

He was very nice to me and so was the tech I was dealing with and I thank them for fixing it.

I will update when I find out if it is truly fixed. He said he was going to personally go over it and take it for a test ride and then when he knows it is ready he will call me personally.

That went a long way with me because I know he is a busy man and he came to talk to me and set things straight and I find that very honorable.
