Like I said, I'm not going to actively look for problems. If something is broke or clearly not right, I have no issue complaining.

I am with OP. I'd complain. One time I had this metallic rolling noise everytime I came to a stop. Annoying as heck. Found out I had two 308 bullets rolling on the floor beneath the seat. haha. Those noises. I'll tell ya

Like the complaint I had today. "when customer hits bump, vehicle feels like it accelerates" when you move the seat farther than 2" from the steering wheel and your toes aren't hitting the gas pedal the problem is solved.

What does "opening a ticket" entail?

They apparently submit the information and the issue as well as the other trucks they heard it on to Toyota Tech. Toyota will then test drive some trucks to verify and try to find the source and report back. Toyota gets a copy of EVERY service stub on new vehicles anyway. But not all require assistance.

They may or may not find a problem but if enough people complain about it they will have to find and issue a TSB for those affected. It puts Toyota in the loop. Very important hen new vehicles are released. We are in a sense "Beta testers" and SHOULD put any issues no matter how small in front of Toyota.

The fact that two technicians heard it and were concerned speaks volumes about my dealership. Toyota may test some vehicles come back and say its the air dam or out of balance drive shaft, or nothing bad.... At least they will be aware its not a "one off issue" I did not get my paperwork until it is submitted to Toyota. I found that strange,

Maybe, but mine's an OR so it doesn't have the air dam up front...

That is one of the areas I will look at myself. I drove SR5s and they had air dams. They did not have an OR so I will likely have to remove mine and test it. If the problem is solved I will report to the dealer who will report to Toyota maybe for a redesign? who knows?

My truck is extremely quiet as well... It's just at about 35 mph it makes a hum... I didn't think twice about it, but if Tacobella went to Toyota and they put in a ticket and do find something I'd at least like to know.

Talking interior noise. The engine still growls like a truck, especially on startup. Sounds awesome.

You have an OR.....Thats a good thing. The noise could be created by the air dam at 35-45 MPH. That would be great if so.

Are you referring to the hood scoop?

I think they're referring to the black plastic piece under the front bumper the OR doesn't have.

At 35 I just start to hear it...It peaks at 40 and ramps down from there. Pitch never changes which eliminates a lot of mechanical issues.

No the air dam below the front bumper. The SR 5s I drove today had the sound and had no hood scoops.

That makes me almost 100% convinced its just wind/air effects. If its a constant buzz based on MPH, gotta just be the air movement.

Its not like anything mechanical is operating drastically differently between 30 and 40 mph vs 20-30 or 50-60 when you're not hearing the noise.
