I'm not seeing this has been suggested or tried: fold in the mirrors and see if the noise changes.

Obviously, if you are in an area where this is not safe (can't get to an empty stretch of road), please disregard this suggestion.

I've kinda ruled out wind noise at it starts and stops exactly at certain speeds, almost like flicking a switch on and off.Certainly not a deal breaker for the truck but I hope it can be found and eliminated.I wont be taking it in for oil change until next Monday, gonna keep watchin this thread till then.

I have the sound as well. It kicks in around 40mph and appears to be the left mirror. I have a 2016 TRD Sport 4x4 DCLB... It really sounds like wind resistance to me.

I noticed that sound driving home from the dealership and for a couple of days afterward, the sound has gone away, or I drive with the window down all the time and it only happens with the windows up. Wasn't really enough to want it looked at.

116Hz is well withing most all human hearing. We can hear 20Hz-18KHz - pretty wide range with the upper limit going down with age to say 14KHz.

OK I have a M/T TRD Sport double cab... O hear something but can't put my finger on it, kinda sounds like noise coming from my left side down low in the back seat somewhere. I folded my rear seats down and run that way and don't hear it with the seats down. Sorta sounds like there's a hole in the chassis and road noise penetrating the cabin with the windows up??

there are cab vents back there to equalize the pressure so you can open and shut the doors.
Maybe if one isn't snapped in all the way it allows more outside noise in??

First technician that I rode with put the seats up and down with no change. When I went back they taped over any area they thought would create a turbulence harmonic. Then they tried another truck ..THAT is when they opened a service ticket with Toyota,

So I'm at the dealer in Columbus, Ohio for my 5k service and I listed my concerns including the howling noise between 35-50 mph. The service advisor is telling me that Toyota is aware of the issue and have had other owners reporting the same, and the noise has been identified as defective driver side weather sill/ strip. They are going to schedule an appointment to replace all customer's reporting issues.
