I try to support our local NAPA shop to. Prices are less than 1/2 vs going to a toyota dealership. Having a prius, and going back to toyota then getting charged $250 for an oil change, and replacing a set of wiper blades imo is priceless.

I've had dealers not reinstall my air filters (engine & cabin) after they take them out to show me how dirty they are. As a side note, I was in the waiting area when they showed a young lady her dirty engine and cabin filters. They put the high pressure on that they needed to be changed ASAP. The price they gave her for parts and installation was outrageous. I asked how much they were going to charge her to reinstall the dirty filters. The service guy gave me a WTF? kind of look. I then asked why they're going to charge her for installing NEW filters but aren't going to charge her to reinstall her OWN filters. By then she got what I was saying, and so did he. She told him that she was going to have her dad teach her how to do it and was going to pass on them doing it for her. She thanked me and said she had no idea that dealers were that unscrupulous. I laughed and told her to ask her dad how to do basic maintenance and she'll save a lot of money.

I had a quick lube pull that on me once with my old Hyundai. They wanted $50 for a $15 cabin filter. I laughed. Agree 100% on doing your own stuff. I did my own oil change at 5k and took her in for the 5k tire rotation. I'll take it back for the 10k and 20k oil changes since they are free. Beyond that, I'll do my own basic maintenance. I gotta say, after this mishap I'm a little skeptical off even taking it in for that. I don't want someone cranking down that oil drain plug or the filter! Lol

250? they are out of their mind. You better have gotten amsoil oil / filter with bosch icon wipers at that price.

Shouldn't the question be why were the center caps even removed in the first place?

    That’s some funny shit.

Should have had her put the reverse high pressure back on them. Tell them since you already took them out, I will go ahead and buy the parts. At least you get the mark up on the parts you sell. Otherwise go ahead and put back in the dirty crap and you get nothing. Take it or leave it.

I totally trust these dealers to do the work right the first time, but the one that was recommended for my toyotacare has insane labor rates. Talking with the owner when i bought my tundra years back, he told me they don't make much selling new, or used vehicles. Their profits come from the service side of the company. I can see why. Place is always very busy. People are willing to pay for good work, or they have service contracts to pay for them.
