Looking to get some insight on this. Searched and didnt find anything specific to this.

My dealer is recommending it but I'm not sure im buying it considering the truck only has 30K miles on it. I could very well be wrong about needing it since the shape of your fuel induction system is based a lot on the fuel you're using, correct?

It's a $154.00 parts/labor/tax - So, not much but I want to avoid spending money needlessly.

Thoughts? Any service techs care to chime in?

Fuel injection service. Add on margin maker to offset low gross warranty claims. I’m sure it can’t hurt but I wouldn’t do it.

I learned with my last car, dealer recommended maintenance and manufacturer recommended maintenance are not always the same. I stick with manufacturer unless you know your driving conditions warrant extra tlc.

Is the truck running as it should or as it has since mile 1800?? If so, say bye bye, and stick to using regular top tier fuel.

You'll find all the maintenance you need outlined in the maintenance manual, last I checked, that wasn't in there. Everything else relating to fuel/emission issues should be covered under the 80k emissions warranty.

    Good luck
    Cheers!

not sure how they do this now on our motor but in the day this was nothing more than some guy revving and another guy with a spray can at your intake. not worth paying if that's the case.

and you're also paying for self cleaning injector technology in the 2GR-FKS if we're talking about the v6..

As stated above, our 3.5s have a cleaning cycle so what they are recommending seems like a totally unnecessary procedure.

I had a dealer tell wife on her Forester that it was in the book and sold her on it. But I could not find it so contacted SOA and they refunded me the cost due to fact it was not FACTORY RECOMMENDED it is an upsale. If manual says to do it then do it otherwise save your money.

Center console divider thingy, rubber bed mat and side steps for the wife.
Not needed, they are just trying to up their margins. Most decent fuels have a detergent package in them. Save your money.

Saw “fuel induction” and wondered WTF, another gasoline magnetizer scam?

“Fuel Injection” is the term, and no, it’s a stealership gimmick you should ignore.

Just go with the service recommendations in your warranty book and when Toyota officially recommends it.

Ah, I always forget these schedules are in the manual. Thanks.

Running just like it did the day I drove it off the lot. As noted above, I always forget the maintenance schedule is in the manual. Thanks.

Does it really? How does it go about doing that? Not that I dont believe you guys, but this is the first ive heard of this. Sort of like self-cleaning ovens?

Nah, not worried at all even though the service writer tried holding the doom and gloom throttle body disaster over my head.

Yeah, the whole "induction" thing threw me for a loop as well but sure as shit, thats whats on the print out they gave me. Im assuming they call it this b/c they start at the throttle body. Atleast thats what the service writer mentioned when I asked what exactly this was. Then he tried to scare me by saying "Maaan, you dont wanna have to buy a $1500 throtte body??!?!!!".... so I just told him ill take my chances on a brand new truck.

I was planning on asking about this, as mine recommended the same. Said it would be $140 out the door though.
EDIT- My dealer explained it as a spark plug replacement. They said it was something about the type of spark plugs used for these trucks. Said they need to be replaced every 30k.

injector self-cleaning on the 2GR-FKS is automatic. all you need to do is not freak out when you hear a ticking sound while sitting at a red light. look it up, lots of confusion about that sound. it's your injectors cleaning.

Please send me your $140. I will wave my wand and utter injector cleaner words and accomplish the same result. Maybe better.

If I am not mistaken it automatically kicks in to cleaning cycle during idle, and it does make a ticking sound.

Buy a bottle of redline SI1 and add some to your tank. Cheaper than the dealer nonsense.

Translation.....wallet flushing service. They are more likely to fuck something up than actually do anything beneficial.

Toss a $12 bottle of techron in before your next oil change and call it good.
