For those that say wear your seatbelt, I would agree at driving speed. As many have mentioned, there are many reasons to want to disable the chime like offroading, stop and go around the ranch, dog in the front seat, placing gear/groceries on the front seat. I asked the dealer to disable the chime (2013) and told them about the manual saying it's customizable. At first they said no due to safety but eventually they did it after pointing out the manual. I even told them I'd sign a release of liability if needed. It's great not having to buckle up when I have gear sitting on the front seat.

    Howdy,
I had mine turned off by the dealer and still didnt like the red lights on the dash. I got a couple of seat belt extenders off EBay and they solve the problem of beep and lights. My seat belt buckles are gray and the ones that I got are a perfect match. Wish I had got them instead driving 40 miles to the dealer. Have a goodun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoever decided the seatbelt chime should have a default value of 59 chimes should have to go through a Star Chamber interrogation in order to find a why.

Customer service lady visited while I was waiting for shock replacement. I gave her a laundry list of stuff to take to her boss along with the fact fact that I will be looking for a new dealer if I need service. Service writer was worst I have ever dealt with. I also showed them owners manual.

Unplug the speed sensor... Sure your speedometer and odometer don't work then but neither does the chime. So I've heard...

No because they said they would and then switched gears. Plus there have been other issues.

Went to three dealerships until I found one that would do it. First two flat out refused to touch anything seat belt related due to "safety reasons" even after I showed then in the 2014 manual where it says it's a customizable feature. The third guy was totally fine with it. Now my truck beeps 5x at startup and then shuts up.

If I understand you correctly, disabling the seat belt chime does not disable the initial beeps when starting the truck only the long term chimes?

I ask because it is the initial chimes that drive me nuts, I prefer to start the truck before buckling up to give the truck more time to warm up.

Correct. it still beeps 5 times at start up. It's any follow on "at speed" chimes that I no longer have. I just remote start my truck and I never hear those.

Try riding around the farm, checking tree stands, and getting in and out of the truck every several hundred yards. Or turkey hunting where you drive 5mph through farm fields all day, stopping every few hundred yards and calling until you get a turkey going to set up on. See if you want to wear it then. There are many good reasons to turn the chime off. Most of them involve driving off road frequently at very slow rates of speed (< 10mph) and getting in and out of the truck frequently.

Everyone saying "just wear your seat belt" has probably never driven off a dirt road, probably doesn't hunt or fish much outside of hunting camp once a year, they probably never drive around a farm or a ranch, don't have a real long driveway, and probably rarely place heavy objects on the front seat.

If the only time you ever hear the seat belt chime is when you forget to put it on going down a paved road, then yes wear your seat belt! However, that isn't the case for everyone. So try to open your mind a bit, instead of keeping blinders on and only looking at the seat belt chime from your perspective.

:jerkoff: Guess you are one of those narrow minded individuals who fail to see the discussion from anything other than your own experience and point of view. Take your blinders off! Most people wanting to disable their chimes don't want it to drive down a public road with their seat belt off.

Hardly narrow minded, the point I was trying to make was for some not to get irritated because some dealerships refused to do it, regardless if its a "custom option" in manuals.

It could be considered a safety issue very easily, shouldn't be condemming the dealerships on this issue for refusal to do so, hey I dont like a bunch of warning chimes either & from reading your reply to OZ it seems YOU are the presuming one so ya know, right back at ya.....:jerkoff::jerkoff::jerkoff: in your mouth...

People should get irritated when one Toyota dealership handles a request one way, and then another Toyota dealerships makes up some B.S. story and handles the exact same request some other way.

Why are you being a dick to people who want to turn off their annoying chime, and relating turning the seat belt chime off (which is completely legal by the way) to totally removing all of those legally required safety features?
