Hey everyone, I have a 15' TRD Off Road Tacoma, it's about a month old and I'm looking to put a lift on it, but I discovered that the only way I can get it lifted without voiding my Toyota Care warranty is to have the dealer do it. I was gonna choose my own lift and have someone else install it but I really don't want to void my warranty so I'm considering going with my only option for one or to wait until the warranty is up and then do one. I'm not a very serious off roader and don't need anything like a full suspension kit. From what I found out by asking the dealer was that they only do one lift which is a 3" RevTek lift. It'd be $1200 for the install, lift, and alignment and anything else I need to do for it. They said as long as the tire is under a 33 they guarantee no rub, and I'm gonna go with a 265/70/17 so that'd be fine with me. I know it's a dealer and it's already more than it should be but I live in Alaska so like everything up here I'm sure that's a special "Alaska Price".

But my only worries are that with the lift they do that it would ride stiffer than stock. I'd keep my same stock bilsteins that I already have on it too. If it doesn't then I'll do it, even if it doesn't change the ride by much I'd still go for it. Just wondering if anyone knew about the way the RevTek lift they do rides.

first off, you should call toyota. as far as i know and the last time i called them was yesterday, warranty still applies on all UNTOUCHED oem installed parts. meaning, if you install a suspension lift then all the parts you had to move or unbolt etc are now not covered. that has nothing to do with, lets say the transmission or engine or cup holder. so i would get toyota to either verify it in writing or recorded phone call before going back to that dealership.

    about that lift...
the kit is about $100 - $150. it is complete garbage, that is what i started with, except i paid only about $125 for the kit and we installed ourselves. so add $125 for the kit, $50 for beer and burgers for use of friends shop to install, i was out less that $200 before i said WTF! this sucks! then tried the 5100's, which cost me about $500 just parts, so add $50 for beer and burgers... same thing, just cost me little under $600 to say WTF! this sucks! then just did what i should have done and replaced coils/struts with proper ones and good quality AAL.

JUST SAY NO TO SPACER LIFTS UP FRONT, AND JUST SAY NO TO BLOCKS IN BACK!

ride will suck, your suspension will be under tension, it will bottom out easier if you use it at all off road (meaning the coils in the spring will compress to the point where they actually touch) blocks in the back will cause a noticeable body roll on turns, etc. for $1200 if you turn all the wrenches yourself, you could put together a really nice suspension!

just wait and take some time man and do it right, you will be so much happier and not be like myself and so many others who spent a small fortune trying to go cheap, then ended up forking out the money we should have in the first place for the correct coils and struts.

i would not let them install that kit! if you want to just fork over alot of money to keep the entire warranty in tact, contact toyota and ask them if you can buy new coils and struts and AAL and have the dealership install it all in order to keep the truck under warranty.

Yeah that's what it sounds like. It's a cheap lift with a crazy overprice and especially being a spacer lift. Thanks for letting me know. Maybe they'll let me get different coils and struts. If not then I'll probably just wait. I never knew that about it only changing that part of the warranty. Thanks a lot for your advice!
