Usually when ever I go to a dealer to look at a car you cant get rid of the salesmen, now that I put down my deposit I cant ever get ahold of the dipshit! After repeatedly asking for a copy of the build sheet ,they told me my build date was Oct 31,now they finally sent me something and it says estimated build date and still has the placeholder vin on it,anyone whos already got there truck is this what you had to go through as well?Did the first copy of what they pull up off driverdaily look like this sheet?I feel like I'm getting the runaround from this dealership. Thanks!

Go into the dealership and get your refundable deposit back. Find another dealer who will help you

This. If you really are not getting updates, I mean weeks... Contact the new car sales manager.

I was getting the run around from my salesman too. At first he called me right back and kept in touch but as soon as I put down my deposit it was like I suddenly had leprosy, nothing for weeks. I called the manager and wanted to cancel my order,he apologized and said he'd handle everything from here on. Also said he's giving me the truck at invoice for the hassles. I have the same build date as yours (10/31) but mines coming from Texas.

Thanks a lot,the sales manager told me Texas as well today.I guess I'm just going to wait till Oct 31 and find out then if the estimated build date ends up being the actual build date.

The build date is not important. The only important date is the DELIVERY date...
Its not easy waiting for a shiny new truck after doing the deal and putting your money down. But when the truck comes in , you will have it for a long time and I promise the wait will have be insignificant after it's delivered. This truck is worth waiting for. I sold a 15 to buy this and never looked back

Your VIN indicates a Mexico build. When it begins with a 3 it's Baja; with a 5 it's San Antonio.

Relax. Not easy I know, I've been going through it sincve mid-august and should be picking up my truck on Monday.

The placeholder VIN will be there until the truck is actually built and then it will turn into an actual VIN. It is a placeholder for a reason - the truck has not been built yet! As long as that build date remains the same it will probably get built on that date. My date changed 2 or 3 times and wqas ultimately built on the last date given to us. My placeholder turned into and actual 2 days after the build date - and it took two more until the system showed the actual build date the same as the estimated ... then several more before we saw shipping info .. I think others have had similar experiences - dealer daily isn't updated instantly - it seems to be batch driven -i.e. it takes a couple of days for things to show up after they happen. then we had nothing for a week and the truck rolled off the carrier with no warning. nao port date, not nothing it just showed up. then all the dates magically appeared.

Now, I might have a talk with your dealer if I was you and just explain that you are anxious and want updates. I told my dealer I'm an information junkie and can deal with delays etc as long as I know just give me the information when I ask. Just be honest with them and tell them all you want is straight information. They are afraid you'll run if you get a deal. It's entirely out of their hands so don't flip out if it gets delayed .Mine wen from build on 9/17 to 9/11 to 9/26 and was built 9/26. After it's built count on 2 weeks +- depending on where you are and how mars aligns with venus but know that it is on its way - it will leave the factory that day in all likelihood from what the collective experience has shown.

Sometimes.... If I give information there is often a source referenced.

As long as your deposit is refundable, you can get it back at any time. From the tone of your writing, I would go get my money back and take it elsewhere

I don't know. I just re-read his original and he has a hard time getting a hold the guy but then he also says "just got this response" ... not timelines stated etc. Kind of muddy the way I read it - if it's me I take a little new information about how the crazy process works and i go beat the dealer over the head and neck and reset expectations - especially if I have a decent deal negotiated.

But, YMMV and your tactics might work better.

You would physically assault them? I know that's a joke, but what would you do? Maybe I'm not reading it right

Of course I would not literally do that. It's a saying some people use for give them a stern lecture. That's all.

    Next topic.

A mentioned previously... patience. Tell them you are just new to the process and need some assurance, so they know how often to give you updates of "Still nothing new, but you will be so happy with your new 2016". Otherwise, they gave you a date. There really isn't much more they can do until it is built. Check back in a week prior and ask "Does it still look like 10/31?". They will get in touch with you if it moves up. I know it seems like there should be full spec'd sheet they can print out as soon as you order with build date and VIN, but there really isn't.

tpak,Thanks ,that is exactly the info I was looking for. This dealership ,although they have drug their feet through the process ,got me in the truck for $34,340 out their door, thats not including my T T & L, which is basically the msrp price but I got the tow package and destination fee included in that price. At first they told me 190 over invoice, but for some reason they weren't using the invoice price that's on one of these threads, after I did all the math they were a couple of hundred over that price. But it's one of the best prices I've seen ,I was in touch with about 7 different dealers initially and none of them would budge. In late august one dealer in Texas was quoting me $4000 over msrp. Thanks for all the feedback from everybody, even the trolls!!!!

Unless you are getting a good deal don't bother with the waiting game + deposit. Inventory will continue to build and the economy is only getting shittier.
