Add Torque Converter locking status to you monitor, you'll be able to correlate its status to the vibration
More like TC related issue. On stock 2016 ECU,TC locks in 3rd and 4th at low speeds

Dealer said the level was good. No flush, good advice jives with what the dealer said. Conditioner, I will try. Thanks!

Dealer said TC checked out ok. Likely hard to thoroughly check from outside, would be my guess.

    I’d go easiest to hardest.
    1. Try higher octane or different top tier brand fuel
    2. Maybe reset the battery so that ECU relearns
    3. Drain and refill fluid

All of the above is $100 all in… if it doesn’t help it’ll be a $xxxx repair more likely
before any sort of additives or voodoo magic tricks

Can a private person send to an auction? I found out that Toyota started sending vehicle history to CarFax in ~2020. Thus, the line in my dealer paperwork from my last visit on this issue was "internal transmission failure between 3rd and 4th gear". I think this forces me to get the truck fixed or take a huge hit (likely bigger than a new tranny) on value.

These transmissions are supposed to be life lubricated. Thus, no ATF changes like my other cars. The truck was maintained at the dealer until 75k. I had a local shop do the spark plugs at 79k, the only service I've had to do to this point besides oil.

The dealer might be trying to shove a bunch of shit down your throat, I'd get that second opinion from a reputable transmission shop and go from there (if one exists)
    Process of elimination.

I’d flush the tranny with the Amsoil flush, drain, and refill. What would the reason be to not try this as a last resort before replacement?

Did they replace the tank or just the fuel pump? Some had to pull the entire assembly to do it.

Go to another city and another dealership or a good transmission place. Worth another opinion.

My 2020 TRDOR with 33k miles does this and so does my dads 2020 SR5 with 11k miles. Premium gas seems to help. Ive already checked the fluid level and added a bottle of Lubegard with no effect. It only does it at low rpm, around 1100 to 1500 in higher gears. Could it be tuned to not run at that low of rpm KDMAX guys?

Thought about your suggestion already. Came to the conclusion that dealer techs ae experts in possible diagnosis and likely fixes that are lowest risk to the dealer. They are not experts in any specific sub-system. Thus, going to an A/T specialist is in order. However, I started a search for one in the SF Bay Area (South Bay), and no shop stuck out as an "expert". A lot of these places say they are transmission, but they really only do replacements, not deep diagnosis. And, good luck finding a rebuild place... although not likely the best choice for a complicated modern transmission like this.

REQUEST: If anyone has a suggested shop or shops for me check out in the SF Bay Area, it would be greatly appreciated.

The other thing that got me thinking... Argh, too much thinking about this. These guys in AZ would be a good choice if they weren't 15 hours away, but these guys suggest not saying anything to mislead a mechanic. https://tricitytransmission.com/abo...y-toyota-tacoma-a750-transmission-service-fix

Yes, 1200-1800, low acceleration, exactly the same. It seems based on other posts, this is more common in 2019+. Running higher octane has me still thinking it's a mixture issue. Why? My truck does NOT stutter when the engine is cold. It only starts once the temp gauge gets to the first line. Anyone have thoughts on the cold vs. warm engine behavior?

It could be part of the tuning. The torque converter may not be in lock up until the temp gets to the normal range. This is done to aid in faster trans and engine warm up times
