Looks like the shudder is gone at least what is perceptible on the less than smooth roads here in northern CA. I didn't notice anything after 500 miles and still going after 5k miles. I was leery to post before hitting 5k. But knock on wood, all seems good so far.

Now, I am learning that Toyota's paint job simply sucks. My 2001 could be waxed once a year. Do that with my current 2017, the gel coat is completely oxidized on the cab roof. My faith in Toyota is being tested again. I guess the after market vinyl or ceramic coatings are required since the factory paint job sucks. Now I look and see Toyotas (even non-trucks) with the same rooftop oxidation.

You had forest fires in the region. It is likely the root cause of the paint issues.

I've had this same issue with my '22 TRD Pro since I bought it in November of '22. I had an '18 OR prior to the Pro and did not have this issue. The '22 TRD Pro as my first new vehicle, I was thinking maybe it was a learning or break-in thing, but it is not. I currently have 9600 miles on it, and with several levels of tunes the issue still persists with the characteristics of shuttering, but less with the higher level of tune. If I'm cruising and the RPMs are sitting between 1000k-1300k and I accelerate, the stuttering begins until the RPM's exceed the 1300 range, and then the stuttering stops. However, as I accelerate onto the highway, the stuttering occurs again while in the higher RPM's of 4500ish as well. It stops once I decrease acceleration load on the motor. It's a if the vehicle is in a gear that it cannot power through initially. I have used 93 octane and notice a very slight improvement, but very slight only, and the issue still exists if my RPM's are in the 1000k-1500k range.

I took it to my local Toyota dealer and I was able to reproduce the issue with the mechanic during a ride along. The mechanic later stated that was normal and he was able to duplicate the stuttering in another Tacoma located on the lot (non Pro version). My tuner stated that a person with a '22 TRD Pro in AL had his tranny and TC replaced under warranty due to this issue, and the problem was resolved after the replacement. He also stated, that another '22 TRD Pro person had a hole in his exhaust, and once fixed, the stuttering stopped. So seeing this issue be discussed sheds more light on the matter, and with my OCD, I'll most likely be following up with another Toyota dealership in the near future. Thank you @gtg for sharing your experience with us too.

That's some insane shuttering and great you can capture that on video for reference too! Mine is not that extreme, but the action is similar in nature while accelerating.

I replaced the driveshaft support bearing and joints with Toyota parts, didn't fix it.
I did a full flush of the trans. didn't fix it.
I tried to do the stupid shift sequense to get the trans temp and check level and I couldn't.
(Not sure how much the level changes from 85 degrees (per say) instead 113 degrees.)

Now I just step on the gas when starts shaking and it goes away. I kind of learned to play with the accelerator to live with it.

That's awful, no way you should have to live with that.

FWIW my 2016 had a low ATF level from the factory, only realized when I did a drain and fill at 60k miles.

damn. that is a wild vibration.

that could be the tranny, no? it didnt seem like an engine misfire for sure. full octane wouldnt do it, would be my guess.

its like something is slipping and grabbing

Nothing that I could do. Started to do it after the warranty expired so....
Everyone says that Toyotas are the best and I like the Tacoma. This is my first truck so I can't compare but maaaan, This truck had all kind of problems, some issues were fixed under warranty and some will die with the truck. They only have 993 TSB's after all.....:notsure:. Goingh back to topic.
I'll replace the tranny filter next month and I want to get a device to get the tranny temp and check the level. Also bought some Lubeguard Highly friction modified (ATF) supplement Dr Tranny shudder fix.
I want to sale the truck to get a work van so I need to fix this. I'll keep you guys posted

Might end up doing the same thing. I have had the shudder from early on, now at 26k. Is the lubeguard added, cycled through with the new ATF and then the final level check at temp?

I have also seen people talk about a larger bottle (10 oz) of Lubeguard Platinum. Not totally sure how to add that much fluid.
