Had the frame swap done about a month ago. Noticed grease flinging everywhere and took a peek under the truck. Apparently either not putting the sway bar link nut on tight enough, or forgetting to put it on at all doesn't work out too well. Sway bar link was free and had come down and completely destroyed the boot on the cv axle. Brought it back raising hell, dealership refuses to replace cv is doing a re-boot. Hoping no dirt and junk got in there to shorten the life of the cv. :annoyed:

Did the tear in the boot happen recently? If you caught it shortly after it happened, I'm sure it's fine...but if you're driven on it like that for awhile (especially on dirt roads or in the rain) then I'd fight them to replace the whole thing.

Weird they won't just replace it, it's way easier time/labor wise to just pop a new CV in than it is to reboot an old one.

I'm not sure exactly when it happened. No dirt roads possibly a rainy day or two. I'm just bummed. Concerned whoever Did the swap may have done other crap incorrectly. My fuel gage also sticks at 1/4 which I was told was the sending unit. They supposedly replaced that as well and it still doesn't work. I brought that to their attention when I dropped it off too. Left it Wednesday afternoon haven't heard anything yet. Going to call soon if I don't hear anything.

New frame versus $80 CV. I'd be over it, swap it out and move on.
