Well no they did not have such a rack- I'm guessing one of the techs told the young concierge guy that as a joke, and he believed it.

Kia tried that in the mid 2000's and got the ever loving shit sued out of them for it.

I had a guy who allegedly worked for a high end sports car dealership tell me they had a rack that flipped Lamborghinis upside down so they could drain the oil out the filler cap. Dude either genuinely believed this or had the stone face down pat. Took everything I had not to call him a liar in the middle of our showroom. Lol.

My GF has a Porsche Boxster S as a weekend car. Looking at the way Porsche built that car around the engine I actually think flipping the car upside down to drain the oil might be the way to do it LOL! That's the only one of 'our' cars I don't service myself.

If its like my uncle's 2015 Boxster S, the dealer uses a vacuum suction tube to pull the oil out. The new Jags and Land Rovers are the same way. My biggest complaint about them is no dipstick. So if some dipstick doesnt put the right amount of oil in it, theres no way to check.

Thats so dumb there is no dipstick. If your engine is burning oil, how would you know? So stupid.

I always check my oil before, during and after long trips.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
I'm sure they have some fancy electronics that throw a tiny code someone will ignore and end up spending major money on. It's in the shape of $.

I thought it was pretty bad they stopped putting dipsticks on transmissions across most makes.
My 06 Jeep had one but I know the 07 gas v6 models had a cover on the tube that said "see the dealership".
    Crazy

I agree, the no dipstick thing is a bit off-putting. On the Porsche there is a display on the dash you scroll to which will tell you the oil level. The problem is it can take up to five minutes for it to get a reading. I generally check it when buying gas which generally (but not always) gives it enough time to tell me where the level is at. To be fair it's never said it's needed oil but I also am a bit leery of it's accuracy.

No dipstick on an auto trans I think is a sin. On an auto trans reading the dipstick can tell you a lot about the condition of the fluid.

Exactly so now I have to take my truck to the dealership and pay them to check the transmission fluid.:(. I know some manufacturers say the fluid is good for life. What life? The life of the vehicle or the life of the warranty? I had transmission problems with vehicles before to know the answer.

I could probably do the Tacoma fluid check or change in the driveway but I have reservations about getting the truck up and level safely. It would be far easier on a mechanics lift.

One of our techs is a former Toyota master tech and he suggests having the trans fluid flushed every 60k.

I seen that recommended in the maintenance schedule for severe service like towing, carrying heavy load and off road driving. Not surprised either. I will be towing a small camper with mine in the summers so I will be sure to do that.

    My
My buddy changed his AT fluid on his 19 OR in his underground. He had to use some wood planks to level it.

He said the job wasnt too bad, just has to be 100% level.

Haha yeah that's exactly what I was talking about. Not easy to do with jacks and jack stands.
This is one that I'll take to a shop to have done when the time comes.

Yeah, thats another very good option.

My buddy is crazy, he changed all his fluids(diffs, transfer case!, and tranny) at only like 8k miles. I laughed.

I did my diffs and tranny at 18k miles, rear diff was fine, front diff was horrible with small metal flakes inside and my MT was like new. The biggest reason i did my MT was to run a better fluid(MT90), shifts even better now.

I do my engine oil every 5k though.

According to most OEM's, living in hot states like Texas automatically push the service schedule into the severe duty section.

@Mrtacoman88 I plan to do my oil around 5000 - 6000 too. Soon time for the 1st one and I've got my toyota care 5k service scheduled for two Saturdays from this week.

    Thats a good plan.

Is that 5k service free? And are you gonna ask them to do the oil, or you are doing it yourself?
