Most of those sellers are toyota dealers and/or toyota specific parts dealers

I asked for a part number and you provided 4806804040. That's what my link points to.

Same dealer has 4806904040 - same price:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-4806...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item259bd01f76

Just for the heck of it - I called a local dealer and inquired into part number 4806804040 and 4806904040. They did not have in stock, nor does Gulf States Toyota - regional distributor in my area. Parts man said they were back ordered.

So...maybe the dealer you are working with is on the up and up about the back order. Could be that South East Toyota Distribution is also back ordered.

I didn't believe their "back order" story based on how they've treated you. Seems like they are going out of their way to dodge this problem.

    I think Silverjack nailed it.

Again, time for the dealer to pull a unit off his lot, replace your bent A-Frame member from that unit...YOU did not CAUSE this...

The dealer has admitted their error, now they need to step up and get you back on the road...

They need to wait, not YOU...

Pretty simple concept, they phucked up, they are the ones that can wait for the part, make the customer happy...

I agree, but that ain't gonna happen. Sales dept. won't let service pull a piece of potential profit off the lot.

GM could if he didn't want this spreading into further hassles and issues...

...this problem essentially is cancer and can spread the longer it is being the responsibility for the dealership to handle.

Need to get the OP on his way and out the door

Agreed that the dealer needs to take care of the OP ASAP, and to the OP I feel for you this situation sucks. The problem is would anyone on here want to buy a "new" truck that has been used as a parts truck already? It's a catch 22. I think the best thing for the dealer to do would be to provide a free loaner truck, and get a new part in ASAP.

Every truck is a parts truck until sold, and hopefully then, they will put the parts back on...

I don't think the bank that owns them would like this.

Yep. I had a conversation with a dealership GM that I grew up with. He told me that dealers(not just Toyota) do not outright own the inventory on their lot. They finance their new car inventory.

All businesses do this. They all have an operating line of credit that they use to leverage there inventory. The line of credit is sometimes offered by the supplier rather than the bank but it's all the same at the end of the day.

I dropped it off Monday and it was finally done on Thursday. I drove it yesterday and there seems to be no more pulling or clunking. It took basically the entire month of February to get fixed. I'm going to drive it this coming week and let an independent shop look everything over again just to make sure everything looks good.

Good to hear. Did they do anything nice for you as a gesture of apology?

Nice gesture, NOT. So, do you ever plan on going to a stealer again for anything? Or do you plan on joining many of us who have vowed to not let them near our trucks?

This was a norm when I worked at Toyota. We had salesmen doing burnouts behind the body shop and driving in first gear for as long as possible to go get gas etc. They would try to put as much unnecessary wear on cars once they were sold to get more business for the service center. Had one run a red light going to the gas station after a customer bought a new Xb, got t-boned and had to pay for totaling it..and then get fired. My boss always compared working at a dealership to working in a prison, you're always surrounded by scummy people.

A guy I worked with would clock in at 7am, leave for the entire day, show back up to check on me around 4pm and clock out.
One of the salesman was an alcoholic who would constantly show up to work drunk. He passed out in the showroom after hitting on a customer and was finally fired two weeks later. If the general managers liked a car that we got on trade, they would slap a dealer plate on it, beat on it for a few months and bring it back to swap for another. This is turning into a rant so I'll stop

I call horse-shit on this one. There may be the occasional ass-hat that does something stupid...but it's not "all the time" or to get "more service business".

My GM once said at a morning meeting to 'burn the shit out of the tires' so they could come back sooner to get replacements.
