Dealers lie by nature and they suck. Always have, always will. I'd take it straight to the service manager. I don't know if it's worth trying to get them to redo it with the correct parts, but definitely a refund on the wrong parts they put on. Then a letter to the GM of the dealership. How much you can actually get out of them, time will tell. But don't let them off easy.
All done in a relatively civil manner, of course. :)

If you have not done so yet, I would politely talk to the Service Manager about the wrong parts. You might be able to get a credit or adjustment. In 2017 my dealer had my truck a couple of weeks longer than I was told for warranty work. I politely asked if the Service Manager would sell me a Pro grille at dealer cost. I was going to pay retail at his parts department anyway. He saved me about $160.

Also, hold the ranting to the fiancé until after the wedding, then let her have it. My wife did not rant to me until afterwards and we’ve been married 37 years.

Dealers don’t care they're people beating the doors down to get in. Any complaining you do will go no where your only real option is to do exactly what you are making them replace with the correct brake pads. JMHO.

Yep, spoke with them and they said they’d make it right and to come in this coming Saturday and that the higher end pads were ordered. Let’s see how this goes now. Lol

Totally believe this as well, as long as they correct the mistake no harm done. But I’ll tell you this, I will be asking to see the new pads and part number before the install this coming Saturday.

So did you pay for premium pads and got value pads while still paying for value pads or did you only pay for value pads and got value pads?

A lot of places will screw things up. But if they are making it right and correcting the error, then all is good (I know, time lost). I think a lot of places make mistakes, but make efforts to fix it but still get a bad wrap.

I've had the dealership screw up in my favor. They change a bunch of parts that they weren't suppose to.

Yea, that's how it works. Usually advisor or whoever you talk to has no idea about cars, and they don't really transfer info to mechanics.

Or, mechanics who work there hate their job because they have to deal with their boss who has no experience with cars, yet still is calling shots.

One time my brakes were squeaking so the shop was going to resurface the rotors. When I went to pick up, the invoice had a charge for resurfacing and a new rotor. They weren't going to say anything until I asked why I was being charged for both. Turns out, the mechanic cracked one of the rotors when he was resurfacing them. I said, ok, but you can't charge me for both because you messed up. It's resurface or new, not both.

It's not just the dealers that you have to keep an eye on, independent shops can be just as sketchy. I recently took mine to a shop I've dealt with for years in regards to tires and alignments to get a flat repair, I've never had an issue out of them but now they have a new service manager and the guy is a jackass. After I paid him, a pretty penny mind you, and got the truck back home I looked at the "repair" and found they put a string plug in the thing. Not something in my opinion that any respectable shop should ever do. When I took the vehicle back and called him on it he tried to deny that's what they did. Offered to take him out and show him, changed his tune and said yeah, maybe they shouldn't have done that. He offered to make it right, so I was ok at that point. Got it back, done correctly, no problem. Took the wheels off a couple days later when I was rotating them and noticed that they had mangled the inside of the wheel and torn weights off when they mounted it on their machine to get the tire off. They tried to deny again and my temper got the best of me and I was quickly banned from ever entering again at that point... Point is, in my experience, you can't trust anyone to do what they say. Whether it's maliciousness, incompetence, or just pure apathy, who knows?

Not justifying for the dealer, we all know the what to expect.

But when i've taking it in, the service adviser has handed me a printout of a line item work order upfront. Would have been the time to identify the wrong parts.

Those pads are trash, not that the original oem pads were all that great. I'm ready to swap for something with more bite. :burnrubber:

I stay away from the stealerships. Find yourself a great independant garage with a good reputation.
