Dealer used Pennzoil for oil change

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum > anything Mobil 1

 

Did they use Pennzoil synthetic? It shouldn't hurt for one oil change. My dealer told me they used Mobil 1 on their free maintenance changes. I don't believe I would take it back to them unless they can use Mobil 1 next time. You might not want to go as long between changes this time.

 

Unlikely. Toyota has a contract with Mobil for a lot of the oil put in at the factories, after that I doubt they care what the independent dealership uses as long as it meets the specifications.

 

I was gonna go with Uncle Eddie's reaction, but strong choice there as well running TLJ in No Country for Old Men.

I ran Pennzoil for 7500 mile intervals in harsh conditions. Oil analysis showed it could easily have been ran for longer and still been good. There's very little difference between the major brands of oil in terms of quality and longevity.

 

I was hoping for more “what is this noise” and “what size is this bolt” threads, those are my favorites.

You'll be fine. Just use the proper viscosity & check the level now & then. I've used Mobil 1, Valvoline, Pennzoil & I'm currently running Castrol. No Problems

 

My dealer used Kendall back in 2010 when I bought my truck. I know, because I asked.

AFAIK, my truck has never had Kendall oil back in it since. Except once, when they gave me a deal on the oil change when doing the TSB for the leaf springs.

 

Mobil and pennzoil are both shit

nothing against penns oil, just that ive only used m1 and thats the bottomline because i said so lol

 

It will blow up your motor. Need to empty now and drive about 50 miles before putting new oil in

 

think hot bacon grease is the new oil meta, really blows the carbon off the pistons. Gotta fry alot of bacon to get the 6 quarts though.

As for OP's concerns. Project Farm tested a bunch of oils and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum came out on top.

 

He started off with a clean engine. Not a carboned up 100k mi car engine

People in WW2 put stuff like that in vehicles not because they wanted to but because they had to, sometimes it's all they had
