So, I walk in to the dealer yesterday to discuss what can be done regarding my melting DTRL and the leaf spring recall.

Her response is that the DTRL recall is only good for 3 years or 60,000 kms. I purchased my truck from them in February of last year. She couldn't have cared any less.

Then I inquired about having my leaf springs replaced and she says they are on back order for a year or longer. So I ask how toyota would be inclined to take so long to get these replaced if there is a potential safety issue with them puncturing the gas tank. She shrugs.

I asked if HQ would do anything for me, she said to try but it'll probably be a waste of time.

Anyone have any suggestions? I don't understand how they can put a 3 year limit on the headlights if it is a melting hazard.

I'm in Canada. This is for a 2011 DCSB Sport

Attached T-WB-POL14-03 regarding the headlights. Not sure if it's different in Canada, but the policy I found clearly states:

Toyota is announcing a Warranty Enhancement Program to cover the replacement of the headlamp assemblies if the inner daytime running light/turn signal has become distorted or bubbled in appearance.

Primary Coverage offers the warranty enhancement until November 30, 2015, with no mileage limitation.

After the Primary Coverage period ends, the Secondary Coverage is applicable for five (5) years or 70,000 miles from the date-of-first use, whichever occurs first.

Unfortunately, the primary coverage lapsed on 11/30/2015. The secondary coverage was good for 5years/70k miles. If your vehicle no longer qualifies under the secondary coverage, you can try calling Toyota HQ.

I can't speak to the leaf spring back order issue. If they don't have the part to fix it, then they don't have the part to fix it. :notsure:

Wonder why the dealership didn't get this done while it was on their lot.

Oh and FWIW , the Canadian coverage period was shorter than the US one and ended in 2014
