Ok, here is the story as of now. WARNING: RANT

7/10/2008: I called the 800 number and got a case number on my way out to Denver. Toyota said they needed to have an inspection and recommendation by a dealership. Ok.

7/15/2008: I roll up to (then) North Park Toyota of Boerne with a 1998 Jetta TDI on a full length trailer and nothing in the bed. The suspension had been bottoming out the entire way back from Denver. They said that it should. 2,000lb trailer + 4,000lb car = 6,000lbs... Ok, but the tongue weight is well within specifications (around 500lbs).

NOTICE in the picture, the car is on the trailer BACKWARDS!!! the engine weight was too much for the suspension!!!

7/19/2008: Okay... Lets get this settled once and for all. I go to Home Depot and put 700lbs (10x70lb bags) of sand in the bed of my truck. I drive over to North Park Toyota and talk to Lewis (the tech following my case). He takes one look at the suspension and says, "Oh yeah - that shouldn't be that low. You definitely need to have something done." He said he would tell Phillip, and Phillip will report back to Toyota that I need the suspension TSB performed.

    I agree...

7/29?/2008: I get a call from Phillip (the service advisor I have worked with for over a year on both trucks). He tells me that he and the rest of the service department are moving down to the new dealership by the Tundra Plant. North Park Toyota will become Toyota of Boerne. He gives me Norm's name, and tells me that Norm will handle my problems.

8/13/2008: I call Norm and ask him what the status is on a response from Toyota. He tells me that this is the first he has heard about it. To make matters worse, North Park Toyota took all of their records when they moved. Then Norm proceeds to tell me that I will need to demonstrate the issue again!!! :frusty:

Excuse me, but I already have - TWICE!!!

As of today, I have a call into Michelle Baker (Customer Relations Officer) at Toyota of Boerne. She was also the CRO at North Park of Boerne, and decided to stay with her customer base (finally some one with people skills that gives a hoot). She is going to get with the service department and Toyota and get back with me.

Hell, by the time I get all of this figured out, my truck will be on the newly inclusive TSB.

I would AAL the rear, but this is Toyota's problem. They have owned up to it on every other year model. I expect them to do the same for me (especially since I am a 3rd time returning customer).

Where's the customer service and loyalty??? :(

nah.....didnt mean literally go get an aal i meant i'd be close to doing that then deal with all the bull shit. anyway.....hope they get it squared away real soon man.

and i agree........when they knew they had a problem with soft springs.,.......instead of keep having them installed, toyota should have automatically started installing the 4 leaf pack on the 06 and up tacomas.

i was reading in the other thread about the "G" revision in the 08's to the suspension. I will have to check if I have this revision or not. If I do, then it is a bogus revision that isn't worth crap. My truck still has problems bottoming out at a little over half its total payload!

hey man, alot of people were still having bottoming out issues, even with the updated 4 leaf pack.........so if that ends up being the case......an aal may actually be needed. i didnt have any problems after the tsb on the 06 i had, but there have been a few.........just a heads up.

Oh, I didn't have any problems on my 07' after the TSB was performed. That is why I want it done to the 08'. I was just saying, there is another thread where a member is talking about a "G" revision to the 3 leaf pack that makes it not bottom out. I have no idea if I am running a "G" or "F" revision, but it isn't working at all compared to my 07'...

An update on my TSB. So far I've taken the truck into North Point Toyota in North Littlerock, AR three times now. First time they said it did not require the TSB as I had the right parts on the truck. I called the 1-800 and started a case through them and was told to take it back to North Point to have it check and that I should demonstrate the problem. I load it down with about 1k and take it in. They said I have it overloaded so I start pulling some of the weight off. They say it was still overloaded at about 800lbs even after I pointed out the fact that I'm rated for 1300lbs. So I get my trailer and hook it up and even distribute the sand bags that I have loaded onto the trailer to simulate the quads I would carry and I still bottom out. Then they tell me I'm at 6900lbs on the scales with the trailer and I'm only rated for 6500lbs. They finally called me back and told me that they've been approved to change the leaf springs and they had the parts on order. I go back to the dealership to pick up the truck and they tell me they have the SHOCKS on order. I tell them I don't need shocks I paid extra for the Bilstein and that its the leaf springs that need to be replaced. They aruge with me about it being the right part and I'm pretty fed up by this time and tell the guy to come out to the truck and look at the part number on the springs. It doesn't match the new part number on the TSB and I want them order not the dang shocks. After much arguing and a lil' heated debate they said they will be ordering the parts. I'm waiting on them to call me back now. They gave me the whole spill about the harsh ride with the new springs and that I wouldn't be able to go back after its done and they are keeping the old springs. Will update you guys again when I hear back from them.

Don McGill Toyota, I-10 Katy, TX.. They put the exact same spring (but new) on first, after a call to Toyota, and another back to the dealership.. the took it back in. Service Rep called me up, and said.. Toyota won't pay for the Front Springs.. Called the Local CS Rep for Toyota, 4 hours later.. they did it. Works great, very bumpy at first (towed a load the NEXT day afterwards..) and two weeks later, very smooth.

    Oh, What a Feeling.

Nothing yet, but hopefully Christmas will change that...
Took my '08 to Freeman Toyota (Hurst, TX) this morning for routine service. I inquired about the TSB and mentioned that I knew it was through '07, but wasn't sure about '08. He came back and told me the '08 is covered and he ordered the springs. Should be in next week, so I'll let everyone know.

FINALLY got Salinas Toyota to aprove the TSB. I found that the Toyota Customer Service people of little help stating we count on the local service providers to be our eyes and ears. I brought my 06 double cab SR5 with tow package in loaded with 400 lbs in the bed demonstrating when it bottoms out. They gave me a lecture on how rough the vehicle will ride but like every one else has stated, I purchased a truck and expect it to ride and handle like a truck and most of all be able to use it like a truck...

For those of you encountering issues getting this TSB done, load the bed with 1/2 or more of the rated capacity, take pictures, and let the service department know that you fully understand the ride will change. Change for the better!!!
