Ourisman Fairfax Toyota of Fairfax, VA has done it again on 10/08/2008! They did my brand new (only 160 miles) 2009 Tacoma with NO questions asked. I called Ken Gilbert, he ordered the parts, and two days later, he called me and had it installed. Great service, especially considering the 2009's aren't even covered by the TSB!

Thanks for posting that they were finally including the '08 Tacoma. :)

1st time around it took dealer 3 months to agree to do the work. They had all the parts to do work, service MGR told mechanic to only install leaf springs. Also refused to do alignment.

Took truck back after I printed the new TSB and asst service mgr remembered me and said we have your parts in stock and took care of it on the spot shocks and alignment.:D

    Stock, for now!
YO FOUR CORNERS RESIDENTS: NEW COUNTRY AUTO in Durango gave me NO hassle about the TSB. I have an 08 Dcab TRD off road. I brought the TSB with me just in case, but they just looked it up, said they would have to order the parts, and that they would give me a call when they come in. Very Smooth!

2008 Double Cab Pre Runner SR5 payload is 1300 lbs according to Johnny at Cobb County Toyota. If the truck is bottoming out with anything under 1300 lbs they should fix it PERIOD as long as its still under warranty!
Taking it in tomorrow morning - let you guys know how it goes.

Can anyone tell me exactly what they said or told the dealer to have this TSB done by the dealership?

I took my tacoma in for the TSB at LONGO TOYOTA (El Monte, California). Told them that I have not yet carried any heavy loads, but did notice the suspension to be very harsh especially during highway speeds (over the littlest bumps).

They basically said, unless you've carried a heavy load and felt the difference....we can not honor the TSB.

Does anyone know of any Toyota Dealerships in SoCal that will do the TSB without any questions? Thanks ahead!

    FYI:

Took my tacoma in for 4-5 different TSB's and not 1 was honored at Longo Toyota.

I have a 2007 Black 4x4 TRD Sport Tacoma DC Longebed.

Toyota of Laredo did it! after two times and a TRD demotion. But request it to anyone over there, they all know by now how to do it correctly.

Believe me they will do it!

They are getting you over semantics. You said you weren't carrying a heavy load, the TSB specifically states a heavy load. If they had half a brain, they would realize that you said you were having a problem before even having a heavy load.

Look back through the rest of the posts

    1. Stop going there. If they don't care about the customer, they don't care about doing their job either.
    2. Call Toyota's 1-800 number for customer care. Ask to do a survey for Longo, give them a bad rating. This severely damages them, preventing them from corporate advantages and incentives. They look like they deserve it.
    3. Ask the customer care number to make an arrangement for you to get your multiple TSBs taken care of at your next nearest dealership, and you won't accept service at Longo due to poor customer service. Customer Care will give you a case number, arrange an appointment, and follow up with a satisfaction survey.

Kendal Toyota of Anchorage Alaska. I went to the dealership today to ask about the TSB. The guy just looked at and had me step on the bumper. As soon as I got on it he was like "yeah you qualify." So he went and ordered the parts. In three weeks I am going in and getting the TSB done. I can't wait.

Does the new parts make the ride uncomfortable? Service manager dude told me the ride dramatically changes after the parts are switched. He said 90 % of the people that have the parts swapped didnt like the ride. Little feed back would be helpfull.

Whats the cost for Toyota to fix this problem (parts and labor)?

Ride does not change dramatically, neither is uncomfortable.

I asked the parts clerk and told me that each spring assembly is $775.00 (of course Toyota list price), then in parts both assemblies (right and left), plust the U bolt (4) and their labor... it easily above $2000.00 (again Toyota price). Expensive...

dropped off my 08 trd sport at Servco Toyota in Hawaii. Not sure if they are doing the work, they told me they needed to check the vin # and other stuff. They did ask me some questions like "does it seem soft in the back" And of course i said it is, which it is. I did bottom out with just camping stuff in the back.

so does it change the height in the back? I don't want a raked look.

Cobb County Toyota - Kennesaw, GA completed the Supension fix. The truck rides nice and sets a little taller. I love it!

Fix replaced hardware, 4 leaf pack (rear), shocks on all 4 corners and front end alignment. Took 1 1/2 days but they supplied me with a rental car. Very professional and did everything correct the first time.

    Cost $0.00

Charles Maund Toyota in Austin TX has ordered the parts for me - no questions asked, and seemed appreciative that I had the TSB ready to show them. It should be done by end of the week.

Sorry for posting this on this thread, but I took my Tacoma to the Dealer today and they gave me this lecture about how this will make the truck ride harsher with no load. They even want me to sign a paper saying I understand I will get a harsher ride with no load. They make it sound like it will ride really bad.

Is the MOD to the suspension give a harsher ride? I can live a little harsher ride and would rather get it fixed.
    Thanks

I just notice someone asked this above. Would appreciate any feedback if there was a difference in a 4x4.

Many people say the ride might be a little stiffer. Mine was about the same yet able to load more weight now, and use it like a truck. Some people also don't have problems with the 3 pack springs. Remember you have until the 3yr 36k mile warranty is up. No need to be in a hurry if your under that. Work it like you want and then decide. Or do like me and get it done ahead and be ready. Don't worry about what they try to do to you at the dealer, they just are afraid you will go back unhappy and want it back the way it was. If you did, it would be on you and they don't want to break that news to you.
