NO MODS YET! 20" Enkeis with NT420 performance tires coming soon...inspired by genxer36.
But isn't Toyota making false marketing claims that their truck can take 1,300 pounds of payload (passengers + equipment) on a three-leaf system when really the truck will give a 'harsh ride' under a payload lower than that?
Couldn't a bed bottoming out with the max payload damage the C-shaped frame or the suspension system for that matter? Toyota can then blame the customer.
The four spring setup obviously creates more resistance against the bed. In the end it will be able to support Toyota's payload claims.

We have to look for "evidence" because alot of people want these things done because they look at them as an "upgrade" and want to get anything done they can while in warranty.

As far as the continued use of the three leaf pack hoosiertaco is exactly right, most people want their four door truck more for a car than a truck and don't really load them much, and want them to ride soft. I don't think you will see the four leaf pack as standard(although imo it should be with a towing package) because of this. Most people that want to haul alot would get a Tundra instead and it's more cost effective to replace the three leaf pack with a four leaf for the 2% of people that actually max out their payload capacity on Toyota's smaller trucks.

I think it's funny that the Tundra only has a 1580lb payload cap and Tacoma is 1350....230lb difference:)

I also agree with what Hoosiertaco said for the reason of the three leaf pack.

Welcome to TW brad. Glad to hear they are going to do it. Make sure when you go in on Friday that they ordered the 4-packs. Make the service writer actually go back and check. Many have had brand new springs like their old ones put on.:) Remember, you might know more than them on this, you have been visiting TW for petes sake......

Will someone above with an '08 4x4 DC please look at your factory coil springs for the color code/versus side of truck. I had my TSB a couple of days ago done and the P-side of the truck (front and rear) sits about a 1/2" higher than the D-side. I am trying to figure out if the L and R springs were swapped. Thanks.

First question. Are the 2009s eligible?

Second question. I am getting conflicting information here. I have a non-TRD SR5 only obviously without Bilstein shocks. Does this TSB replace the stock Tokiko shocks with Bilsteins on non-TRD trucks????

The TSB shocks are the yellow Bilsteins. About 2 weeks ago, when I had the TSB done on my 08, I supplied front and rear Bilstein 5100s; the fronts were installed per my selected setting (1.75"). The dealer gave me the new Yellow Bilsteins- which I may sell on e-pay!

I think currently it's only up to the 2008 model year. It applies to all 4x4 & Prerunner models (no standard cab). On the TRD trucks, they just replace the rear leaf pack. On non-TRD trucks, they replace the leaf packs and replace the shocks with the yellow & blue Bilstein shocks that come with the TRD packages.
