gave Bob Richards Toyota in North Augusta, SC a call this morning and had to bring in my 08 in to the dealership to verify if it could be done or not, which i understood. After sitting there for 20 minutes or so, which wasn't a bad wait, he pulled around with my taco and said he had to order the parts, but they should be in this coming week.

For those of you wondering how i did it (without a fight even), i simply called the dealer before i went and explained to him that i had the truck loaded with about 4-500 lbs of stuff (in my case it was a bunch of metal and wood), and the ride was pretty rough considering the load. they'll have to verify (i'm thinking he just looked at the VIN and made sure the required numbers were on the TSB (which they were, they were the 4-8th characters in the VIN). Now i just need to keep my fingers crossed and hope they do it right.

As far as this TSB goes, does the truck need to still be under warranty for them to do it?

if you want it to be done for free, yes... otherwise after labor and stuff, i've heard like $1500 or so to have it done... better off going with aftermarket AAL's at that point

Hi, I have a question for the group. My local dealer said they would perform the TSB springs on my '09 but cautioned me very strongly that the ride of the truck would become very very rough. Please let me know if the ride becomes alot rougher and does anyone regret having it done. Thanks.

Does anyone live in the San Fernando valley in CA that would be willing to give me a ride in their updated '09 reg cab so I could see how it rides?

I have had the new springs on for a few hundred miles now and the ride is just as good if not better than before with the 3 leaf pack.

Had the TSB done yesterday at Autoway Toyota in Pinellas Park FL. Hassle free, set up the whole thing via email, job done in 2 1/2 hours. Great dealership. Definitely a different ride but I like it.

Took truck to dealer. Stated that it would settle down to axle bumper stops without much weight (been hauling chunks of broken concrete from demolition job - and no, I never did place excess weight in it. It just couldn't support much weight with the three leaf pack). Mark, the service man, went outside and got the VIN number and said he'd order parts. Scheduled for suspension TSB next week. Excellent service.

some of this, a little of that

I can't say for the reg cabs but in my double cab the ride was more firm. More firm in a good way, hard to explaine but it feels like it corners and brakes better, also feels much better on the highway when I hit bumps.

report for the Phx, AZarea. As I said in a prev post, I talked with Dan Adams @ Bell Toyota in Phx. He ordered the parts without a preinspection, I went down there yest, they did everything from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Picked up my taco, new springs in, front end alignment done, new bumper stops, new u-bolts. 1700 buck charge to Toyota.
I got a 2010 TRD access cab....service was EXCELLANT. For any of you Phx guys, you can use my name 'sal' if you wish, talk with dan Adams. They just won my service !! Only got 3 K miles on her , but lots more to come.

Priority Toyota in Chesapeake, VA did a decent job. They game me the "we'll have to look at it" bit, but within 2 hours had determined that it applied. And then, of course, I wasted 5 hours on Day #2 while the put in replacement parts, aka the 3-leaf pack. I called them when I got home (confirming the numbers so I didn't look like an ass). They apologized, had me come back (trip #3) and got it right. Very contrite, offered a rental car for the several hours, overall a pretty good experience (as opposed to my closer dealer)

How's it ride? Stiffer is a good word, but only in the back. When you first get in you'll notice you're "leaning" a bit forward and it felt like it drove a touch wierd, but that passed quickly. On potholes or curbs it's a lot easier on the truck - little thuds instead of that softer springy feel - and on the passengers. I can tell a difference when I park in my driveway, since it's a pretty sharply angled curb. Before my truck would rock a bit when I hit the curb at an angle, now I just kind of hit it and keep going without being sloshed around in the cab.

They did ask questions but I had marks on the frame. I would load it up and drive it to make the marks or even better bring it in loaded. I had to fight a bit but it looks like you have a '08 so it should not be any problem at all. My best advice is talk to the service manager. Nothing was done on mine until I spoke to him but then again that it because the '09s were not on the list at the time. Good Luck.
