Okay, calm down. I have a 2007 Taco double cab, I had my TSB done, and I am a service advisor at a Toyota dealer. No-one is trying to screw the consumer. I had mine done within my factory warranty, and a TSB is a bulletin for a fix for a problem covered UNDER WARRANTY! If you had a problem at 36,001 miles Toyota is not REQUIRED to do anything, but in most cases they want to make their customers happy, which is where the term "goodwill warranty" comes into play. Goodwill is an effort to retain loyal customers and make them happy, but is in no uncertain terms required, and acting like a yahoo doesn't get you anywhere. Goodwill warranty is solely at the descretion of your dealer, unless Toyota corporate gets involved. That said, I don't personally agree with the fact that many 05 and 06 Taco owners weren't able to get this TSB done because it came out after their warranty was up. They kinda got the shaft, but that's why I would never buy a new or redisigned model until it has been out for a couple of years. That way the inevetible bugs should be worked out.

    Actually,
I called Stevens Creek Toyota 6 months after buying my truck complaining about the rear end bottoming out when I went on a camping trip. They told me I over loaded the truck, and then I explained I only had about 400 lbs. of gear back there. Even offered to load it back up and show them. They blew me off and made me feel like a jackass.

The reason the Advisor was an asshole is because he claimed that Toyota told him to goodwill the TSB for for me and that the Dealership would eat the claim. I have worked at a dealership and I understand that goodwill/warranty work doesn't make the dealership any money (in most cases, they lose because the factory gives undercut hours to perform the work), but he is a customer service rep for this dealership and didn't need to pass this info on to the customer. Why should I feel guilty that Toyota wanted to help a customer? I was already to accept I was out of limits for the work, but thought I would call to see if they would cover it.

I know being a service advisor is a stressful job, but why pass grief on to the customer? Your job is to make the cust feel confident about their decision to take the car to your dealership!

Well I am sorry you had such a bad experience. Unfortunetly, not all people do their job as well as they should. I personally wouldn't treat anyone the way you were treated, you can't be disrespectful. I couldn't agree more with your description of a service advisor.

Just had my 08 DC TRD done at Boulder Toyota. Service people were very nice and professional, but would not do the job without authorization. I called Toyota and had to be very firm about what I wanted. Several phone calls later, they authorized the TSB work under warranty. Truck is much better now, rides better and I feel like I finally have the truck I thought I was buying. Thanks to everyone on this site for bringing this issue to light.

Edit: Just to follow up, I received a phone call from the dealer and Toyota corporate to make sure I was happy with the work. This is one of the reasons I bought a Toyota.

I took my truck in last week for the TSB and Leith Toyota of Raleigh, NC and they kept it all day only to tell me that they didn't see a problem, and I should bring it back in when the bed has a load in it. So I called Toyota Customer service and they claim they will call within 3 business days. It has been 2 days so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

My 07 Tacoma is at Ron Carter Toyota in Alvin, for those in the CLear Lake area, and in addition to replacing a "cracked canister" they are going to do the TSB suspension upgrade. I will not be getting it back until tomorrow, therefore, I will post pics as soon as I can.

My dealer already told me they won't eat it until Toyota will cover the cost. I told them that it is BS since I spend a small fortune (most of which I don't have) there...

I am going to hit up some other dealers next week. I want to get the TSB done before I go to Denver and tow my 98 Jetta TDI back from diesel limbo.

I'm fully anticipating that they will say "no" and then I think my next step is to call my salesman and see what loop-holes he can find as well as take Rocky's advice and call the 1-800 number again . . .

Went in for 15k service on 6/20; order for parts went in on Monday (6/23), appointment for Thursday (6/26). Dropped off at 9am, picked up, freshly washed, at 5:45pm. And they didn't bill me for the 15k service, either.

It took printing out the first two pages of the TSB, but no lying or bags of sand or phone calls to corporate, so I figure the twenty cents at the public library was fair. And more than anything I think I had to convince them that I knew what the TSB was for & that in fact I wanted it done.

Excellent service, per Toyota normal, although sometimes puzzling since I bought this truck two states away.

Service Rep. wasn't aware (even when showing him the printout).

Spoke with Service Manager, very friendly, ordered the parts. Parts arrived two days later and they installed it with no problems.

I really like the way my truck is riding now.

    Hey Ya'll,

Thank you for making me aware of this problem(suspension TSB) before it was too late. I took my 2007 Certified Toyota Tacoma DC PR SR5 with 34,000 miles along with a print out of the TSB to

POWER TOYOTA TEMPE @ Tempe Autoplex

My service writer Steve was helpful and they did not even question or have any issue with doing the job.

I had only taken it in for an oil change and because the dealer installed alarm was hanging from under the dash, and expected the parts to have to be ordered, but they had them in stock, so they did the job on the same day.

My only disapointment was that the prepaid oil changes that I purchased with the vehicle $400.00 for four years including any maintenence required did not have an option for synthetic oil. The dissapointing part is that he said it would be $30.00 extra each time to use synthetic oil. I can get 5 quarts of mobil 1 at Wal-Mart for about $20.00, so I decided to not do synthetic at this time. I found it ridiculous that they wanted an extra $30 per oil change for synthetic. They also wanted $25.99 each for the D-rings for the bed, I saw them online somewhere for $19.99 a pair.

    Later,

    Allan Greenblazer
