I have an 08 Tacoma 4cyl pre-runner. I printed off the info on this site about the Suspenion TSB and went to my dealer. The dealer told me no problem when I went by to ask them to fix my suspension. That was over a month ago, 2 weeks ago they told me all the parts were in accept for a rear shock that was on Back Order. now they will not even return my calls...Does anyone know if the shocks really are on B/O or are they giving me the shaft?

i dont know if the shocks are on back order or not.....but your truck is an sr5 right?? not the trd version, correct? the sr5 is the one that gets 4 billy's and new springs. trd just gets springs.

if it was me, i think i'd go over to the dealership and have a word or 10 with the service manager and get this thing straightened out.

Actually I'm still waiting to see the Toy rep to get it authorized. If he says no, I'll start with the work orders for the other 08's you gave me. I'll let you know how it all goes . . . I hope this happens before Christmas this year!!!!

They did mine after I mentioned the TSB and how I had some bottoming out hauling from California to MI. They never questioned it and called me when they had the parts available. Seems fine, lasts a long time

I had this same issue with my 07'. They approved it, but it took over 2 months just to get the parts in.

BTW - I grew up in Brandon, MS. Nice to see some one from that area on here. Welcome to TW!

Ok I have a question about the TSB I am new to this whole deal but Saturday I am going to pick up my 06 Regular Cab. Its a 2.7 and I believe its an SR5. Do I have to take it to its original dealer or would any Toyota dealer work? And is there any more info I need to know? Nevermind just read the pdf with more concentration and noticed the reg. cab isnt affected sorry guys.

O.K. Guys , Thought I'd report on my TSB results. Took truck in at 8am. they called at 11:30 and said it was ready. The ride really doesn't feel any different than before. I was worried about the ride getting very firm. The new springs raised the rear up (about) 3/4 ". Overall I think it was a good upgrade........Rick

Well, I got a call from the dealership last Thursday and was told that the area Toy Rep said absolutely "NO" he won't allow the TSB on my 08. He didn't even look at my truck!! The service manager who called me said that he knew I wouldn't be happy so he placed another dozen calls to the regional manager and also to corporate. After reaching someone in corporate, he said that they were going to update the TSB to include the 08's (he didn't say when) and that he would go ahead and order the parts and do the TSB on my truck. He stressed how stiff the suspension would become and that if we go ahead and do the TSB, there was no going back. That was OK with me. I'll let you know how it all goes.

007, are you having any success?

Don't take no for an answer. Keep complaining to Toyota, and they will try to make you a happy customer. The dealer is another issue all together. Toyota wants you to be a satisfied customer, but sometimes it is the squeeky wheel that gets the grease. Just call Toyota's customer service line, not the dealer's.

I was lucky. I took my truck in to my dealer for an oil change, and to ask if they could order the parts parts and schedule the service, while waiting the Service Writer came to the waiting area to let me know they had the parts in stock, and could do the TSB that day. I got the same "stiff ride" warning, but I have no problem with the post TSB ride at all.

LOL, my guy said that I wouldn't feel a difference at all. After daily driving for a month, I may have noticed a slight change. I'd be upset if things DIDN'T feel this stiff - I rode in a gen 1 today and my ride is still smoother.

Don't worry about the stiff ride. There isn't a huge difference. It just feels better and can handle the weight. If we wanted cars we wouldn't have bought out tacomas yes?

I live in Salinas CA and the local dealer today claims that only the rear shocks require replacing. I called the 800 number and received little help but opened a claim to have the complete TSB done. Any ideas? Salinas Toyota really sucks....
