Most of these technicians don’t actually check anything . They provide the paid service that’s it. Best thing is do the service yourself if u can .

Well at least on the 2022. I don't have to worry about them not doing the grease zerks. I'm pretty sure the dealer never messed with the grease zerks on my 2005, 2010, or my 2018.

My wife went to one of the quick oil change places long ago.

They bring her the cabin filter and give her the rap. In their defense, it definitely did need to be replaced.

Specifically they showed her all the leaves and pine needles on the filter.

She asked for the filter, shook it out quickly over the trash barrel and said "looks much better already, now you can put it back in the car"

I replace hers yearly regardless and it was about that time anyhow so I just did it.

That's a little harsh. Would she have done the same with the oil filter? :D

Lady accused me of stealing the air conditioner out her car one time. She said "when I bought the car it blew cold air, after you worked on it the air comes out warm even at the lowest setting." Well the car didn't have AC on it. This was back in the early 90's in Long Beach California and a hot summer say was maybe 82 degrees. It was early summer. I asked her when she bought the car and she told me "just back in November."

I 100% dont check them, I go by the engine air filter.

Glove boxes are full of shit, and I only want to go in if the customer aproves it.

Big thing is, they can look like that in 3 months, and people get furious when I call it again.

So I call filters on cars once a year, usually with engine air filters.

That's ^ what i do. In the 16 years of owning my 07 I've changed out the filter 2 or 3 times. I did the rodent screen mod and on top of it attached a thin section of furnace filter mesh... stops crap from ever getting to the main filter. Once in a while i just shake off the mesh and reinstall.

That filter last about 2 years or 1 time getting pinned in the slow lane behind a hay truck.

Yes, this ^^^^^^^ First thing I did was to check and maintain my own filter. Also regularly check the entire truck and come up with a maintenance plan.

My wife's SUV gets one yearly, mine usually every 2 years. Allergies for her, makes it easier to just spend the $20 a year and get it over with.
