I’ve had new tires mounted on plastidipped wheels.... and they managed to not even tear the plastidip.....

If they can do that then there is no excuse for any dealership to scratch wheels.

On the Hyundai I used to drive, first winter I had it I bought winter tires, tire shop damaged the finish on the rims and when I pointed it out to the guy at the counter, he grabbed the GM and we all went out and looked at the rims...

GM looked at me and asked if I had another set of rims to use and I said no, he looked at the guy at the counter and said "any rims he wants, anything we carry, they're free."

The guy gave me a list of every brand they had available and I got the aftermarket rims I had been looking at before.

There's nothing unreasonable about new rims to replace some light damage, if the company takes pride in quality of work and customer service, it's the right thing to do. It also helps avoid you going around badmouthing them or taking them to court.

This is a great story. I think people forget that this is exactly what courts are for. You make a deal, there is something that sours the deal, you can't come to terms, so you go to court and let a judge, using the rule of law, make the determination.

Small claims court is fairly cheap from what I understand. My sister took her land lady to court for her security deposit. It cost her like $30 in CA.
