Took my truck to a few dealers to get some ideas on trading it for another taco or tundra. To my surprise I was notified that when dealer 1 ran my vin# it came back that it was in an accident or damage was reported on may 2018. The damage or accident is now just showing up for something that happened in May of 2016. I bought the truck the end of June 2016 off a dealer. 5 employees of that dealership verbally told me it was never damaged, or in an accident prior to my purchase. Can anyone advise me what steps to take or What are my options I'm in PA. Also, dealership where I purchased it was glad to tell me of the accident/damage when I attempted to trade it in but never when I purchased.

Deal with it... I highly doubt you will get anywhere legally considering you bought the truck almost 3 years ago.

I don't know if this will help, but you can search dealers service records after you create an account and enter your VIN here: https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle

Once you are logged in, go to:

Do you have anything anywhere in writing from the dealer who sold it to you saying no accident? Otherwise, I think you may be out of luck.

Reports can take time to show up, also they are very vague, If its something minor 2k-3k and under most likely a fender bender or what they call a minor incident , but if shows up as a frame damage or rebuilt title that will be different.
At this point, try to find out what type of damage it was, the report should tell you how much it cost to repair the truck, then negotiate with the dealer, if it was a minor thing they shouldn't give you to much BS.

We bought a Rav4 from a local dealer, that the dealer had an accident in during a courtesy pickup. They conveniently left out the "free carfax with every vehicle" and also neglected to tell us about it. I found out a few days later from the Toyota website.

I didnt do anything, probably should have, but the car we traded in may or may not have had to have everything in the brake system replaced after power steering fluid was put in the brake fluid reservoir. We had it fixed, and the guy said it would be fine, not to trade it but it was back at the Jeep dealer a few days after we traded it in with brake problems.

Verbal means nothing in court, check the vin# for accidents BEFORE you purchase.

non insurance claims don't show up by running the vin so that's kind of a flawed system, my truck was repaired couple months before I bought it guy paid cash didn't go through insurance, dealer never told me, wasn't on the carfax or vin report. Only reason I knew about it is cause it was fixed at my shop.

Is it possible that they didn't know about it, until they checked on it for your trade?

that sucks, is it possible the dealer didn't know the accident when you purchased it back in 2016?

    None.
I never knew about this. I learned some amazing things. I have a 2011 with 120k miles on it. But, the transmission was replaced at around 80k and the clutch. Good things to know.
