So I had an appointment for maintenance at my Toyota dealership for my 2018 TRD off road tacoma. As I was getting serviced they wanted to let me know there was some recalls on my vehicle but I had to sign a waver since one of them involved a sensor upgrade for my PCS and I had modified my front grill / upgrade to Pro grill. As I am driving home I noticed that my Pre Collision light is bright orange and says "OFF". Turns out the dealership just straight up disarmed my PCS. Most annoying part is im stuck with the OFF light on my dash. I had tested the PCS after I installed my grill and seemed to work fine. I assume they disabled it since they don't want to be responsible if it works incorrectly due to the Pro grill upgrade.

I just wanted to know if anyone knows how to rearm the PCS because the off on option isnt working anymore. My guess is they used some type of computer to disarm it completely. Is it possible to rearm it myself? and if not can I get rid of the annoying light?

    thanks

Are you talking about the TSS sensor? Did they just unplug it and forget to plug it back in?

looks like its plugged in. I think they just disarmed it since I have a upgraded grill. Its considered a modification.

This has been posted about in the past. You’re not the only one this has happened to. I assume you are correct in your belief that it’s about liability issues.

I can understand your frustration and would hate the off light as well. I have an after market grille but so far no issues with Toyota service.

lame.. have them "install" the grill again then turn it back on. I assume OEM grill or was it a copy?

I am sure you could find another dealer to turn it back on. Play dumb, this came on, can you guys fix it...

I upgraded to a pro style grille I got off eBay and bought the oem garnish from Toyota. My grille looks like the real deal though, even though it wasn’t advertised or priced as oem. Mine is molded as a single piece, including the letters. It’s a quality knock off.

Put the stock grill back, return and have them reset it.

Put the pro back after you are home.

Only return there for other warranty/recall work, which will be unlikely to include that again

They should turn it back on for you. They had absolutely no business turning it off! Plain and simple but did you sign a waiver. My local dealer called and scheduled an appointment for my fuel pump recall and wanted to do the tss. Simply put I said do not touch it, I refuse to let.them do it.

Search around, I vaguely recall that they flash and it permanently disables the sensor, e.g. bricks it. T-SB-0026-20 claims a new sensor is required.

yeah I signed a waiver but they did not mention anything about upgrading the TSS sensor or disarming it. I was in a middle of a phone call when the guy brought me the waiver so i should had read it better but i know he didnt mention it directly.

Yeah I remember this. If they did this update, module is toast.

T-SB-0026-20 attached. If that is what you signed off, module is supposedly dead and cannot just be turned on again.

the visit before last they told me they couldnt do the recall on the sensor because of the pro grill and said if they did they would have to disable it so I declined. I am pretty sure the recall rolled over with the existing recalls they did today because the guy didnt fill out the paperwork or have me sign anything showing i declined it. The waiver did not look like that one i signed today though. So i can assume this is what they did to it since i am not able to turn it on within the dash
