I do all of my own maintenance, can build HP V8 motors and was a mechanic for about 4 years for a business that did custom work, we built high performance offroad vehicles. Also raced offroad for about 7 years and built my own vehicles that I competed in. Sold the business to a friend and moved onto another business.

You can’t even spell mechanic. I doubt you can build a motor.

I'm imagining the tech was missing a small tool at the end of the plug change and prob. deduced it fell into the cylinder.

He'll prob. find it under his box 6 mths. from now.

Oh I read in the middle now and see.

Well, it's not the first time I'[ve heard of these things but everytime in the past I've heard of a replacement (crate engine) being used.

Maybe it's hard to get one nowadays. Toyota has never been known for that sort of thing. One of the few drawbacks over GM or other Domestic.

I'm pretty patient and forgiving too (I think) but i wouldn't be satisfied with a junkyard engine in a 60K mike truck.

Buy my truck for an inflated price and let me go find another. They f'ed up.

Back on topic, im a little curious why some you guys thought removing the head to inspect for the missing piece would shorten the lifespan on the engine?

This is why we come here, it's a never ending story of guess what......

I crapped all over a 3rd Gen thread once, and someone got mad at me.

Threads never die, they just morph into something horrible, but to try and keep things on track. I do hope it all works out for the OP and he gets a new motor.
